T
his card uses 3 different Techniques:
1) Shadowing, 2) Masking, and 3) Sponging
There are also three stamp sets that are used: 1) Travelers (retired), 2) High Tide, and 3) The Wilderness Awaits
Project Recipe
Card base
Cut 1 - 4 1/4 x 5 1/2" - Marina Mist Card stock.
Card Layer
Cut 1 - 4" x 51/4" in Whisper White
Window Sheet
Cut a piece of window sheet that the image can be stamped on to create the mirror image.
Stamping your Layer and Creating the Shadow
a.) Using the whisper white layer, stamp your ship on the left side and about 3/4" from the top of the layer in black ink.
b.) On the window sheet stamp the ship in black ink as close to the bottom edge as you can.
c.) Carefully turn your window sheet over so that the ship is facing downward and match the bottom of the two ships together laying your window sheet on the whisper white paper.
d.) Firmly press down on the window sheet without moving it to transfer the image on to the card stock, then carefully remove the window sheet and clean it so that you don't have ink all over you. You should have a nice shadow of the ship.
Stamping your waves
a.) Use the ground stamp out of the "Sheltering Tree" stamp set to create your waves.
b.) Use the Marina Mist ink. Ink your stamp and lightly stamp off and then stamp right below the bottom of the ship, then under that wave do a 2nd generation stamp, and then a 3rd generation stamp if there is enough ink left on the stamp. If you have to re-ink your stamp, just stamp off on scrap paper before you stamp your card.
Sponging the Ocean
a.) I took a sponge and lightly dabbed it in the Marina Mist ink. I blotted it off on scrap paper and starting at the edge of the paper, made circular motions to add water to the bottom portion of the card. You will have to re-ink your sponge and stamp off several time to get it to look like you want, I think I may have even stamped a few more waves over the sponging.
Creating the Clouds
a.) I took a piece of scrap card stock and drew and cut out a cloud shape.
b.) I placed the cloud shape up to the top of the card stock and then took my sponge with the marina mist ink (be sure and blot off) and lightly in circular motions sponged around the top of the cloud. This should leave just enough blue to define the cloud. I moved my mask over the white space and did the same process making multiple clouds. My clouds are very subtle.
Stamping the Seagulls
Depending on your space, you may have to mask some of your seagulls so that you don't stamp them all. I was able to stamp them twice on my card.
Adding the Sentiment
I used the sentiment in the Wilderness Awaits stamp set. You will see that I did not stamp the entire sentiment on the front of the card.
Assembly your Card
You can use snail tape, or glue to adhere your picture layer onto your card base.
You can add a sentiment inside or leave it blank for a note card.
