T
he Layered Florals 3D Embossing folder from SU! is just beautiful!
And it can be equally beautiful by just using a small image from the folder!
The image can be colored using a water painter and our inks, or Watercolor pencils and Wink of Stella.

Water Color Paper
2 1/2" x 2 1/2"
NOTE: The watercolor method I used for this card was to apply ink from the inkpad to one of our clear blocks and then use a Water Painter to pick up the ink.
You could also use our Stampin' Write markers and use the brush end to put color on the clear block. Another method is to use our Watercolor Pencils. You would color directly onto the watercolor paper and use the Water Painter, Blending Pen, or Wink of Stella to dilute and move the color around on the image.
There are lots of methods for water coloring. Just use the products that you have on hand :)
Instructions:
- Burnish the card base on the score line.
- Take the 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" piece of Basic White and using a blending brush and Flirty Flamingo, LIGHTLY apply ink over the entire surface of the white cardstock. Remember to start light and add color if you think it needs it. My sample turned out darker than I wanted, so even I am a little too heavy-handed sometimes!
- Using the splatter stamp image from Notes of Nature, stamp using Flirty Flamingo in the top-right corner and lower left-hand corner.
NOTE: you can find this type of stamp image in several other SU! stamp sets if you don't have Notes of Nature.
- Adhere this layer to the card front.
- Stamp the sentiment on the 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" piece of Basic White, using Pebbled Path ink.
- Without re-inking your blending brush, lightly rub around the edge of the sentiment square, laying just a little bit of color.
- Adhere the sentiment square to the 1 3/4" 1 3/4" square of Pebbled Path.
- Take the piece of watercolor paper and place it in the Layered Florals 3D Embossing folder, positioning it so that you get one full flower in the center. Turn the paper over until the raised images are facing you (you don't want to work on the flat side of the embossed paper)
- Take the clear D block and tap it on the Pebbled Path ink pad. Make sure your Water Painter has water in the barrel. Lightly squeeze the barrel to push water down to the brush. Don't use too much pressure, you just want a little bit to dilute the ink. Pick up a little bit of the ink off of the block and start coloring the flower. Remember to always start with a small amount of color. You can always add but you can't take it away. Continue coloring the flower until you are satisfied with the color.
- Take a folded paper towel and hold the Water Painter over it and squeeze the barrel to push more water to the brush, brushing out all the Pebbled Path color until the brush is white again.
- Clean off the clear block and apply Flirty Flamingo ink. Repeat the same steps above to color the small flower.
- Clean out the brush again and the block. Apply Granny Apple Green ink to the block and color the leaves.
- Once you are finished with the flower, apply Wink of Stella on all of the raised images.
- Adhere the finished water color square on to the 2 3/4" x 2 3/4" piece of Pebbled Path. Adhere that panel to the upper right side of the card front.
- Using dimensionals, adhere the sentiment panel towards the bottom left of the flower image.
- Add the Basic Rhinestones.
- Stamp your sentiment on the inside using Pebbled Path ink.
You are finished!
