elcome to Tuesday's Toolbox! We will explore some of the many Stampin' Up! tools that we sometimes tend to forget about. The idea for this blog series came about from being stumped with a tag that was just too bland.

So I love to make tags. I use them for gifting, card fronts or as an embellishment for a scrapbook layout. Often I just collect them! Mini layouts. I was working with the box snowman from the annual catalog. So cute! But every piece of the new Christmas DSP was just too busy. What's a Dreamer to do?
Then I remembered my new embossing folder from the 2019 Holiday Catalog. (Debuts Sept. 4!) CraftDirect describes an embossing folder as "a piece of hard plastic, which has a front and a back side, with some sort of design on it. One side of the folder has the design raised and the other side is depressed, so that when pressed together, the designs fit in to each other, thus leaving the design."
After you load your paper, just put it on the platform, turn the handle and success! I have 2 Big Shots by Sizzix, which is a very popular machine. Stampin' Up! is in the process of creating a new die cutting machine, so at this time we do not offer one in our catalog. Hopefully by June, with the debut of our new annual catalog.
I remember the days without a die-cut machine. They we expensive and I didn't have the extra money for something so extravagant. But I discovered that I could use either a rolling pin or the end of something hard (I used a pestle). Rub back and forth over the entire surface until you get the desired effect.
Some of the new embossing folders from Stampin' Up! are called a 3D folder. I love the deeper impression I get with them. I have discovered that if I spritz the cardstock with a small amount of water, I am happier with the result. The water softens the grains of the paper without tearing the paper.
I hope you enjoy this new series and stop by again next week as we once again look at another tool from my toolbox. If you do not already have a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator, I would love to become yours. Visit my website for all your Stampin' Up! needs.
I am Dreamin' of more tool time, you keep Dreamin' too!
