F un winter card using Stampin' Up! products.
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Stampin' Trimmer:
- card from Real Red Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Old Olive Cardstock
- 2-1/2" x 4-3/8" from Real Red Cardstock
- 2-3/8" x 4-1/4" from Whisper White Cardstock
- piece of large red and green plaid design from Under the Mistletoe Designer Series Paper at least 2-1/2" wide
Mount the skating snowman image from the Spirited Snowmen Set on Block D. Ink it up with the Memento Pad. Stamp it in near the top of the piece of white cardstock. Set aside to let dry for a few minutes.
Unlock the 2-1/4" Circle Punch. Slide the piece of Under the Mistletoe Designer Series Paper into the punch. Punch.
Adhere the circle of designer paper to the Old Olive rectangle so the left side of the circle almost touches the left side of the Old Olive layer and the bottom of the circle is about 1" from the bottom of the Old Olive layer.
Adhere the Old Olive rectangle to the front of the Real Red card.
Mount the "winter cheer" sentiment from the Spirited Snowmen Set on Block G. Ink it up with the Old Olive Ink Pad. Stamp it at the bottom of the snowman stamped white rectangle. Make sure to leave at least 3/4" between the bottom of the snowman image and the top of the sentiment.
Place the stamped snowman image on top of some paper on your work surface (Grid Paper works great). You need to make sure that you protect your work surface with paper as the Stampin' Blends Markers do bleed through.
Start coloring with the Stampin' Blends Markers. The markers have a brush tip for coloring in larger areas and a fine tip for coloring in smaller areas. Use the light colors first and add highlights with the darker colors. If needed to blend the colors, go over things again with the lighter colors. Work on one area at a time so the inks will be wet and will blend easier.
Use the Dark Pumpkin Pie Marker to color in the snowman's carrot nose.
Use the Dark and Light Old Olive Markers to color in the snowman's skate boots.
Use the Light Soft Suede Marker to color in the snowman's stick arms and legs.
Use the Dark and Light Old Olive and Dark and Light Real Red Markers to color in the snowman's buttons, scarf, and hat. Alternate the colors of the stripes on the scarf.
Use the Color Lifter Marker to remove any color that got anywhere you don't want it.
Use the Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush to color in the blades on the snowman's skates.
Adhere the stamped and colored white layer to the Real Red rectangle.
Cut an 8" piece of Real Red 3/8" Mixed Satin Ribbon.
Wrap the ribbon around the matted, stamped, and colored white rectangle so it is between the snowman image and the sentiment. Make sure the loose ends are on the left side of the matted cardstock. Use strips of Tear & Tape Adhesive to hold the ribbon in place along the back side of the matted cardstock. Don't worry about securing the ribbon on the front side.
Cut an 8" piece of Whisper White Solid Baker's Twine.
Fold the twine in half. Tie the folded baker's twine around the loose ends of the ribbon on the left side of the matted cardstock with a knot.
Trim the ends of the ribbon into sharp angles and trim the ends of the twine.
Remove the protective backings from the Tear & Tape strips and add more SNAIL to the back of the cardstock. Adhere it to the front of the card so it is about 1/2" in from the right side and about 1/2" from the top and bottom and overlaps the plaid circle a bit on the right side of the circle.
Carefully peel up a white snowflake from a sheet of Santa's Workshop Enamel Shapes making sure that you get the adhesive backing as well. Adhere it to the upper part of the plaid circle.
