P retty birthday card using heat embossing and Stampin' Up! products.
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Pretty Peacock Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Pretty Peacock Cardstock
- 3-3/8" x 4-5/8" from Garden Green Cardstock
- 3-1/4' x 4-1/2" of green and blue brushstrokes design from Fresh As A Daisy Designer Series Paper
- 2-1/2" x 3-1/4" from Distressed Gold 12" x 12" Specialty Paper
- 2" x 2-1/2" from Pretty Peacock Cardstock
- 3/4" x 3" from Garden Green Cardstock
Insert the 4" x 5-1/4" Pretty Peacock rectangle into the splatters embossing folder from the Stripes & Splatters 3D Embossing Folders set so you'll dry emboss one side of the vertical rectangle. Place the folder with the cardstock inside on the platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Make sure none of the cardstock or embossing folder hangs over the edges of the platform. Run through the machine. Repeat on the other side of the vertical rectangle, making sure the entire rectangle gets embossed. Leave the embossing folder out.
Adhere the dry embossed Pretty Peacock rectangle to the front of the Pretty Peacock card.
Carefully tear the rectangle of Fresh As A Daisy Designer Paper into three or four big pieces. Try to minimize the feathering on the edges of the pieces as you tear.
Carefully rub one torn edge of each piece of designer paper with the VersaMark Ink Pad. Lay the pieces in the in the center of the Powder Pal included in the Embossing Additions Tool Kit. Sprinkle on some gold powder from the Metallics Stampin' Emboss Powders so it covers the inked, torn edges. Tap off excess powder. Return the excess powder to the container to use again later.
Heat the powder on each of the pieces with the Heat Tool on the highest setting until it is completely melted (shiny and smooth).
Tip: Use the Crafting Tweezers included in the Embossing Additions Tool Kit to hold the cardstock while you are heating it so you don't burn your fingers.
WITHOUT ADHERING, lay the embossed edge pieces on the large Garden Green rectangle fitting them back like a puzzle. Make sure the embossed edges show and that a tiny bit of green shows on all four sides. When happy with the layout, adhere the pieces together one at a time using Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Fine-Tip Glue Pen.
Adhere the matted designer paper kintsugi piece to the front of the card in the center.
Pick out the outline jug die from the So Refreshing Dies. Put it on top of the small Pretty Peacock rectangle on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Run through the machine.
Insert the jug cut out into the splatters embossing folder from the Stripes & Splatters 3D Embossing Folders. Place the folder with the cut out inside on the platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Run through the machine.
Unlock the Bough Punch. Hold the punch upside down so you can see the punching area. Slide the Distressed Gold Specialty Paper into the punch and get it centered in the punching area. Punch. Slide the remainder of the paper back into the punch and punch again to get a second small bough.
Adhere the dry embossed jug cut out to the front of the card so the handle just touches the right edge of the Garden Green matte around the designer paper and the bottom of the jug is about 7/8" from the bottom of the card. Try to leave the top of the jug loose so you can slide the bough punch outs under the top in the next step.
Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Fine-Tip Glue Pen to adhere the bough punch outs to the card front so the bottoms of the stems are tucked under the top of the jug.
Rub the Embossing Buddy included in the Embossing Additions Tool Kit all over the small Garden Green strip.
As you are ready to stamp using the Sending Smiles Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp.
Mount the short sentiment of choice from the Sending Smiles Set on Block G. Ink it up with the VersaMark Pad. Stamp it in the center of the small Garden Green strip.
Lay the VersaMark stamped strip in the center of the Powder Pal included in the Embossing Additions Tool Kit. Sprinkle on some gold powder from the Metallics Stampin' Emboss Powders so it covers the entire image. Tap off excess powder. Return the excess powder to the container to use again later.
Heat the powder with the Heat Tool on the highest setting until it is completely melted (shiny and smooth).
Tip: Use the Crafting Tweezers included in the Embossing Additions Tool Kit to hold the cardstock while you are heating it so you don't burn your fingers.
Pick out the shorter, skinny label die from the Sending Dies. Put it on top of the stamped and heat embossed sentiment on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so the sentiment is centered in the die. Run through the machine.
Use Mini Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the sentiment label cut out to the front of the card as shown so it overlaps the lower left side of the jug cut out a bit and the lower left side of the matted paper kintsugi piece a bit.
Use the mini spatula on the Take Your Pick to carefully peel up 1 large Pretty Peacock gem from the sheet of Tinsel Gems Four-Pack making sure that you get the adhesive backing as well. Adhere it to the right side of the sentiment label cut out as shown.
Use the mini spatula on the Take Your Pick to carefully peel up 1 small and 1 large butterfly from the sheet of Brushed Brass Butterflies making sure that you get the adhesive backings as well. Adhere them to the front of the card as shown in the upper left corner of the paper kintsugi piece.
