F un moving Christmas card using Stampin' Up! products.
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Pecan Pie Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 2-3/4" x 4-3/4" of red and green lines on white background design from A Walk In The Forest 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper, cut so the lines are horizontal on the horizontal rectangle
- 2 pieces each 3" x 4-1/4" from Basic White Cardstock
- 1-1/4" x 5-1/2" from Pecan Pie Cardstock
- 1/2" x 3-1/2" from Cherry Cobbler Cardstock
Fold the Pecan Pie card in half.
Pick out the circle die from the Deckled Circles Dies that cuts out a 5" circle. Put it on top of the folded Pecan Pie card on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so the fold of the card is slightly above half way through the circle. Run through the machine.
Pick out the circle die from the Deckled Circles Dies that cuts out a 4-5/8" circle. Put it on top of the A Walk In The Forest Designer Paper rectangle on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so one long edge is half way through the circle and the bottom of the circle die almost touches the bottom of the other long edge. Run through the machine.
Adhere the designer paper half circle to the front half of the folded half circle card so a little bit of Pecan Pie shows on the bottom, left, and right edges and the flat side of the half circle is even with the flat fold at the top of the folded half circle card.
As you are ready to stamp using the Rocking Horse Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp.
Mount the rocking horse image from the Rocking Horse Set on Block E. Ink it up with the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of one of the large white rectangles.
Pick out the matching rocking horse die from the Rocking Horse Dies. Put it on top of the stamped image on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so it is centered over the image. Run through the machine. Leave the die out.
Put the rocking horse die on top of the other, unstamped white rectangle on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Run through the machine.
Place the stamped rocking horse cut out on some Grid Paper to protect your work surface. You need to make sure that you protect your work surface with paper as the Stampin' Blends Markers do bleed through.
Use the Light and Dark Cherry Cobbler Stampin' Blends to color in the horse's saddle blanket except for the top line along the bottom.
Use the Light Cherry Cobbler Stampin' Blends to color in the front rocker of the rocking horse.
Use the Dark Old Olive Stampin' Blends to color in the top line along the bottom of the saddle blanket.
Use the Medium Deep Natural Tones (SU300 and SU400) Stampin' Blends to color in the horse's tail, mane, hooves, stirrups, and bridle.
Use the Medium Natural Tones (SU500 and SU600) Stampin' Blends to start coloring towards the center of the horse and add shadows.
Use the Medium Light Natural Tones (SU700) Stampin' Blends to color in the rest of the horse and blend the colors together.
Use the Color Lifter Stampin' Blends to remove any excess color.
Adhere the colored rocking horse cut out to the top of the plain white rocking horse cut out so all edges line up.
Note: This hides the Stampin' Blends coloring that bleeds through to the back of the cardstock.
Pick out the more solid rocker die and the saddle die from the Rocking Horse Dies. Put them on top of the Pecan Pie strip on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Make sure the dies do NOT overlap. Run through the machine. Use the paper-piercing tool on the Take Your Pick to remove the pieces.
Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Fine-Tip Glue Pen to adhere the solid rocker cut out to the bottom of the layered, colored rocking horse cut out over the rocker there.
Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Fine-Tip Glue Pen to adhere the saddle cut out to the rocking horse cut out over the saddle image there.
Unlock the Happy Labels Pick A Punch. Slide one short edge of the thin Cherry Cobbler strip into the right side of the punch (the side of the punch with the smaller scallops) as far as it will go and get it centered. Punch. Repeat on the other end.
Mount the "Have a Rockin' Christmas" sentiment from the Rocking Horse Set on Block H. Ink it up with the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the punched Cherry Cobbler strip.
Adhere the sentiment strip to the bottom of the card front so it is centered side to side and the bottom of the strip is about 1" from the rounded bottom of the card.
Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Fine-Tip Glue Pen on the back of the rocker and about half way up the rocking horse of the rocking horse cut out ONLY to adhere the rocking horse cut out to the top of the folded half circle rocker card. Make sure NO adhesive goes over the top, folded edge of the rocker card. The bottom of the rocking horse cut out may overlap the top of the sentiment strip a bit.
Tip: Lay the folded half circle rocker card on top of a medium envelope. This will help you figure out how high up the rocking horse can be and still have the card fit in the envelope.
