A country-style Christmas card using Stampin' Up! products.
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Shaded Spruce Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 2" x 4" of green and gold stripes on red plaid design from Wrapped In Plaid 6x6" Specialty Designer Series Paper
- 3" x 4-1/4" from Whisper White Cardstock
- 1" x 3" from Whisper White Cardstock
Unlock the Banner Triple Punch. Slide one short edge of the strip of Wrapped In Plaid Specialty Designer Paper into the punch as far as it will go. Punch.
Adhere the punched designer paper banner to the left side of the card front so it is about 1/4" from the top, left, and bottom edges.
As you are ready to stamp using the Ride With Me Photopolymer Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp.
Mount the complete truck image from the Ride With Me Photopolymer Stamp Set on Block I. Ink it up with the Memento Pad. Stamp it in the center of the large white rectangle.
Mount the top of the pine tree image from the Ride With Me Photopolymer Stamp Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Memento Pad. Stamp it on the large white rectangle so it appears to be in the bed of the previously stamped truck image.
Pick out the stitched rectangle die that cuts out a rectangle that is 2-5/8" x 4" from the Stitched Rectangles Dies. Put it on top of the stamped truck with tree image on a platform on your cutting and embossing tool so the truck is centered side to side with the bottom of the tires near the bottom of the rectangle. Run through the tool.
Tip: You may have to press fairly firmly along the edges of the die to pop the cut out loose.
Make sure you have some paper (Grid Paper works great) at your work space.to protect the work surface. The Stampin' Blends Markers will bleed through the cardstock that you are coloring so you need to protect your work surface.
Place the truck with tree rectangle cut out on the work paper and start coloring with the Stampin' Blends Markers. The markers have a brush tip for coloring in larger areas and a fine tip for coloring in smaller areas. Use the darker colors first as highlights and then blend everything together with the lighter colors. Work on one area at a time so the inks will be wet and will blend easier.
Use the Light Smoky Slate Marker to color in the front bumper, hubcaps, and door handle on the truck.
Use the Dark Smoky Slate Marker to color in the tires on the truck.
Use the Light and Dark Shaded Spruce Markers to color in the tree and the pine needles flying off the tree.
Use the Light and Dark Cherry Cobbler Markers to color in the rest of the truck.
Use the Color Lifter Marker to remove any excess color as needed.
Shake the bottle of Snowfall Accents Puff Paint very well.
Put tiny dots of puff paint on the tree. Put a thin line of puff paint on the roof of the truck's cab. Put puff paint behind and below the wheels of the truck. Remember that the puff paint will get bigger as you heat it.
Use the Heat Tool to heat the puff paint. Hold the Heat Tool directly over one area of puff paint at a time until it starts to dry and puff up. Continue to hold the Heat Tool over the puff paint until it has puffed quite a bit. Then, do the other areas of puff paint the same way.
Tip: When you think the puff paint is done, hold the Heat Tool over it a little longer to make sure it is done.
Tip: Do NOT use puff paint with water-based regular inks as it will make them run. It does work on images stamped with the Memento Pad and colored with the Stampin' Blends though!
After the puff paint has had time to cool down, carefully press straight down on the puff paint areas to flatten them out a bit and make sure they are completely dried out.
Adhere the stamped, colored, and puffed truck and tree rectangle cut out to the front of the card so it is about 5/8" from the right side and about 1/2" from the top.
Mount the "Wishing You Loads of Christmas Cheer" sentiment from the Ride With Me Photopolymer Set on Block H. Use the brush tip of the Cherry Cobbler Stampin' Write Marker to ink up only the words "Christmas Cheer." Breathe on the stamp to moisten the ink. Stamp it in the center of the thin strip of white cardstock.
Tip: Make sure you use the regular Stampin' Write Marker, NOT the Stampin' Blends to ink up the words. If you use the Stampin' Blends, it will permanently stain the stamp and won't stamp onto cardstock.
Pick out the stitched rectangle die that cuts out a rectangle that is 1/2" x 2-1/2" from the Stitched Rectangles Dies. Put it on top of the stamped sentiment on a platform on your cutting and embossing tool so the sentiment is centered. Run through the tool.
Tip: You may have to press fairly firmly along the edges of the die to pop the cut out loose.
Use Mini Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the sentiment rectangle cut out to the card front so it overlaps the top right corner of the truck and tree rectangle cut out and the right edge is about 1/4" from the right edge of the card.
Cut a 3" piece of Shaded Spruce/Gold 3/8" Striped Ribbon.
Tie a half knot in the center of the ribbon. Trim the ends.
Use a Mini Glue Dot to adhere the ribbon knot to the front of the card at a slight angle in the upper left corner of the truck and tree rectangle cut out.
