Project Recipe
Cut cardstock and Adhesive Sheets pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Sweet Sorbet Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" from Basic White Cardstock
- 1 piece each cut to 2" x 2-1/2" from Sweet Sorbet, Pale Papaya, So Saffron, Parakeet Party, Tahitian Tide, and Orchid Oasis Cardstock
- 1" x 1-1/2" from So Saffron Cardstock
- 7/8" x 1-3/8" from Adhesive Sheets
Pick out the largest Stitched With Whimsy Die. Put it on top of the white rectangle on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so it is centered on the rectangle. Run through the machine.
Note: This die doesn't really cut anything out. Instead, it will add stitching texture to the cardstock.
Mount the "you're always on point!" sentiment from the Hippest Hippos Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Sweet Sorbet Ink Pad. Stamp it in the upper right corner of the horizontal stitched white rectangle as shown.
Adhere the stamped and stitched white rectangle to the front of the Sweet Sorbet card. The left, right, and bottom edges will be even. There may be a thin line of Sweet Sorbet showing along the top folded edge.
Mount the dancing hippo image from the Hippest Hippos Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Jet Black StazOn Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of each of the Sweet Sorbet, Pale Papaya, So Saffron, Parakeet Party, Tahitian Tide, and Orchid Oasis rectangles. Remember to re-ink the stamp each time.
Pick out the matching hippo die from the Hippo Dies. One at a time, put it on top of one of the stamped hippo images on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so it is centered over the image. Run through the machine. Repeat until you've cut out all 6 hippos.
Tip: It is often better to cut images out with dies before spending all the time to color them in. That way if the dies slip during the cutting process, you haven't wasted a lot of time on the coloring.
If needed, ink up the un-inked Craft Ink Pad using the White Craft Ink Refill that comes with the pad. Or, add additional craft ink refill to the pad if you have used it before as the ink does tend to dry out.
Squeeze the lid of the White Craft Ink Pad to get ink in the lid. Use a Blender Pen to pick up ink from the pad lid and color in the entire tutu, all fingernails, and the points of the pointe shoes on the Sweet Sorbet hippo cut out as shown. Remember to stroke in one direction only or the cardstock will tear and pill up.
Squeeze the lid of the White Craft Ink Pad again to get ink in the lid if needed. Use a Blender Pen to pick up ink from the pad lid and color in the right side of the tutu (up to just past the third full ruffle), the fingernails on the hand on the right, and the points of the pointe shoes on the remaining hippo cut outs as shown. Remember to stroke in one direction only or the cardstock will tear and pill up. Scribble on Grid Paper when you are done until no more color is coming off the Blender Pen.
Adhere the colored Orchid Oasis hippo cut out to the front of the card so the bottom point is about 1/2" from the bottom of the card and the right point is about 3/8" from the right side of the card.
Adhere the Tahitian Tide, Parakeet Party, So Saffron, and Pale Papaya colored hippo cut outs to the front of the card so they overlap the previous hippo a bit as shown and create a slight arc.
Use Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the colored Sweet Sorbet hippo cut out to the front of the card so it overlaps the Pale Papaya hippo a bit as shown and finishes the arc.
Peel the protective backing off of the Adhesive Sheets rectangle. Adhere the Adhesive Sheets rectangle to one side of the small So Saffron rectangle. Be sure to leave the other protective backing in place for now.
Pick out the set of two flowers die from the Hippo Dies. Put it on top of the So Saffron rectangle on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so the So Saffron (yellow) side is face up. Run through the machine. Use the paper-piercing tool on the Take Your Pick to remove the pieces.
One at a time, carefully remove the protective backings from the flower cut outs. Adhere them to the front of the card as shown in the upper left corner.
Use the mini spatula on the Take Your Pick to carefully peel up 2 small Sweet Sorbet sequins from a sheet of Adhesive-Backed Seasonal Sequins making sure that you get the adhesive backings as well. Adhere them to the centers of the flower cut outs.
Use the mini spatula on the Take Your Pick to carefully peel up 1 large Sweet Sorbet sequin, 1 small white sequin, and 1 large white sequin from a sheet of Adhesive-Backed Seasonal Sequins making sure that you get the adhesive backings as well. Adhere them to the front of the card as shown.
