Project Recipe
Cut cardstock, designer paper, and vellum pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Sweet Sorbet Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Basic Black Cardstock
- 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" from Basic White Cardstock
- 1-1/2" x 3-7/8" of various honeypots on white background design from Bee Mine 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper, cut so the honeypots are vertical on the vertical rectangle
- 1-1/2" x 3-1/4" from Vellum Cardstock
- 1-1/2" x 3-1/4" from Basic White Cardstock
- 1/2" x 4" from Daffodil Delight Cardstock
DO THIS STEP FIRST!
Rub a Sponge Dauber across the open Daffodil Delight Ink Pad to get it inky. Lightly rub the inky dauber all over the strip of Vellum Cardstock. Get more ink on the Sponge Dauber as needed. Set aside to allow to dry.
Tip: I just clean my Sponge Daubers when I'm done using them by running them under water until no more color is coming off. Then, I let them air dry. They may be stained, but they are clean enough to use with any color of ink in the future.
As you are ready to stamp using the Bee My Valentine Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp.
Mount the honeycomb image from the Bee My Valentine Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Daffodil Delight Ink Pad. Stamp it repeatedly onto the right side of the horizontal 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" white rectangle. Remember to re-ink the stamp each time. Try to line up the pieces to make one large chunk of honeycomb, but don't worry if they don't line up exactly.
Unlock the Happy Labels Pick A Punch. Slide one short edge of the thin Daffodil Delight strip into the right side of the punch (the side of the punch with the smaller scallops) as far as it will go and get it centered. Punch.
Mount the "you're as sweet as honey" sentiment from the Bee My Valentine Set on Block H. Ink it up with the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the punched yellow strip as close as possible to the right edge with the punched end on the right.
Adhere the sentiment strip to the bottom of the stamped white rectangle so it overlaps the bottom of the honeycomb bunch and is about 3/8" from the bottom and the punched edge is about 1/8" from the right side.
Adhere the strip of Bee Mine Designer Paper to the left side of the stamped and layered white rectangle so it covers the end of the sentiment strip.
Adhere the stamped and layered white rectangle to the center of the Basic Black rectangle.
Cut a 4-1/2" piece of the Sweet Sorbet 1/4" Bordered Ribbon.
Lay the ribbon across the matted, stamped, and layered white rectangle so it covers the seam between the white layer and the designer paper layer. Fold the ends of the ribbon over and secure the ribbon in place on the back with strips of Tear & Tape Adhesive.
Remove the protective backings from the Tear & Tape pieces and add Stampin' Seal to the back of the black rectangle. Adhere to the front of the Sweet Sorbet card.
Mount the bee stripes and stinger image from the Bee My Valentine Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad. Stamp it on one end of the horizontal white strip leaving room to punch it out.
Mount the solid oval bee body image from the Bee My Valentine Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Daffodil Delight Ink Pad. Stamp it over the top of the previously stamped stripes and stinger so the edges all line up.
Unlock the Bee Builder Punch. Hold the punch upside down so you can see the punching area. Slide the stamped bee body image into the punch and get it centered in the bee body punching area. Punch. Leave the punch unlocked.
Lay the punched out bee body on your work surface so the stinger is on the left side.
Mount the bee face image of choice from the Bee My Valentine Set on Block A. Ink it up with the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the bee body punch out on the right side so it is centered in the yellow area.
If the ink on the vellum is dry, proceed with the next step. If needed, rub the inky side of the vellum around on some Grid Paper to remove excess ink.
Slide the inked vellum strip into the unlocked Bee Builder Punch holding the punch upside down so you can see the punching area. Get the vellum centered in the large heart (wings) punching area leaving room to punch out a second heart. Punch. Slide the vellum over and punch out another large heart (wings).
Use Stampin' Seal to adhere the bottom tips of the heart/wings vellum punch outs to the back of the bee body punch out so they overlap each other a bit as shown.
Use Stampin' Dimensionals behind the body of the bee only to adhere it in place to the front of the card as shown so it is centered over the honeycomb bunch at a slight angle.
Use the mini spatula on the Take Your Pick to carefully peel up 1 small and 2 large red flowers from a sheet of Adhesive-Backed Hearts & Flowers making sure that you get the adhesive backings as well. Adhere them to the front of the card as shown.
Cut a 3" piece of the Sweet Sorbet 1/4" Bordered Ribbon.
Slide one end of the ribbon under the ribbon already on the card front. Tie in place with a half knot so it is centered over the end of the sentiment strip as shown. Trim the ends.
