ased project from Julie DiMatteo at thepaperpixie.com---YouTube video mini explosion purse. Changed project from 6x6 DSP to 12x12 DSP and adjusted score and cut lines.
Purse can hold spool of ribbon, container of embellishments, chocolate, etc.
Project Recipe
Take your desired 12x12 sheet of Designer Series Paper and score at 4" & 8". Turn the paper a quarter turn and score again at 4" & 8".
Use a ruler and scoring tool from the Simply Scored Score Board and a ruler and line up the ruler from the bottom right corner of DSP to the top left corner of the DSP. Score through the bottom right 4" square, avoid the middle 4" square, and score through the top left 4" square. Turn the paper a quarter turn and repeat with the remaining outside squares (see diagram with dotted lines).
Use scissors (larger scissors make this easier) to cut diagonally across each of the 4 corners that are marked black in the picture
Now you are going to score the middle left and right 4" squares so that the sides of the purse will fold in. Make a pencil mark on the outer edge of the paper, 2" up from the score line and repeat on both sides as in the picture.
Use your bone folder to make the score lines crisp and folder as in the picture (the Fresh Fig side is the outer side of the purse in my example). Cut a 4-inch diameter circle of cardstock of your choice and score in the centre and at 1/4-inch on either side of the first score line (you are creating a bend in the circle so that when the purse is closed, the front flap can accommodate all the folds of the purse base).
Cut a piece of cardstock 3/8"x11" of same card stock as your circle and score at 1/4" on each end. Apply Fast Fuse or Tear N' Tape and adhere the 1/4" end under each side of scored portion of the circle to make a handle for the purse. Adhere ribbon to front of circle; stamp and punch a daisy from Whisper White using Fresh Fig ink and Daisy Delight stamp. Sponge as desired with Fresh Fig ink. Wrap 1/8" Old Olive 1/8" sheer ribbon around the palm of your hand 6 times (loops are approximately 8" circles). Tie in the middle of the loops, making a 4" bow and adhere to the back of the daisy using dimensionals. Add a few more dimensional to the back of the daisy and adhere to the front flap of the circle, adjacent to the ribbon. Remove the backing of one side of a self-adhesive velcro dot and adhere to the underside of the decorated circle. Remove the remaining backing to the velcro dot and close up the purse. And there you are--you have a perfectly sized purse to give a lovely gift of your choice (I recommend a simply perfect gift from Stampin' Up! of course!!).
