T
his is one of those cards you need in a hurry! I heat embossed with Versamark ink and clear embossing powder the Tree Ring stamp on my Crumb Cake card. I used Early Espresso ink in a watercolor wash with a water pen adding more color between the rings. I stamped the Happy Birthday from Big on Birthdays on a beige paper scrap from my stash. I used a die frame from my stash in Old Olive cardstock.
Start to finish it took me an hour to make this card . .. .
Enjoy!!
Project Recipe
This is one of those cards you just have to get your hands dirty on and play with the results!
Paper:
Crumb Cake card and matching envelope
Scrap of beige paper (enough for sentiment and inside)
Scrap of Old Olive (enough for frame and inside mat)
1. Using the Tree Rings stamp, ink with Versamark and heat emboss with clear powder. Be sure to have your heat tool hot before taking it to your card.
2. While that is cooling off, stamp your greeting with the Big on Birthdays stamp set in Early Espresso on the beige scrap.
3. Next you will need to take your Early Espresso ink and an aqua painter. Using lots of water for a wash, paint the ink over the front of your card. This will give the wood look some depth. Next either using less water or perhaps a matching marker, add more color to the outside of the rings on the stamp and filling in those small areas around the rings (background) This will give the look of bark on the rings and add depth to your card. Try not to use too much water as your card base may warp slightly. You will need to blot off some of the excess water as you go to ensure it doesn't become too wet.
4. I used a die frame from my stash, but you could just cut a rectangle mat if you like out of the Old Olive.
5. Depending on the size of your card (the Crumb Cake card set are a bit smaller 5 x 3.5 finished), you will need to cut a mat from Old Olive that is 1/4" smaller than your card size. For me that was 4.75 x 3.25".
6. Cut a beige mat that is 1/4" smaller than your Old Olive mat. For me that was 4.5 x 3".
7. Using Snail, glue the Old Olive mat to the inside of the card and then glue the beige mat on top of that.
8. I used my frame to mat my sentiment so I glue that using a strong liquid adhesive. After fussy cutting it all, I ran it through my Xyron.
That is it - quick and easy. Give it a try.
