4"x6" Diagonal Fancy Fold Card sporting a handstamped Poinsettia and a Merry Christmas sentiment.
Many thanks to Jan B (JanBCards.com) for her great video tutorial for how to create this fold.
Project Recipe
Cut a piece of Granny Apple Green Cardstock to measure 11 1/2" x 8". With the short side at the top, score at 4", then with the long side at the top, score at 5 3/4".
Remove the scoring blade from your trimmer then carefully line up your scored cardstock so the top left and bottom right corners line up with the centre of the cutting track.
Cut along the diagonal - TIP:- start your cut about 1/2" in from the corner, so you don't scrunch the tip when you cut it. The blade should dissect the centre scored cross.
Take the left point and fold it across the card to the right hand corner, again making sure that the point matches squarely. The two triangles should line up without overlapping as shown.
With the short side at the bottom & the rectangular part of the card to the right, fold the top point down the card to the right corner, being careful to match the point squarely. Burnish the scoreline with your Bone Folder.
Cut two pieces of Whisper White Cardstock to measure 5 13/16" x 3 13/16". Take one of these pieces and cut it diagonally from top left to bottom right corners. Put these and the whole piece to one side.
Cut two pieces of Merry Mistletoe Designer Series Paper from two different designs to measure 5 13/16" x 3 13/16", then cut each of these diagonally from top left to bottom right corners. TIP:- if you are using a directional paper, you will only be able to use ONE triangle from the same design, unless you switch to the other triangle on the card front. Jan explains this well in her video.
I used the Poinsettia Collage and Whisper White with Real Red and Old Olive Spots designs as neither of these is directional.
Take a piece of Whisper White Cardstock measuring at least 3 1/4" x 2 1/2". Ink the Poinsettia stamp from Stylish Christmas with Poppy Parade ink and stamp.
Using your Paper Snips, fussy cut around the Poinsettia leaving a small, white border.
Attach the Poinsettia to a scrap of Granny Apple Green Cardstock measuring at least 3 1/2" x 2 1/2", then fussy cut again, leaving a small, green border.
Take a scrap of Whisper White Cardstock measuring at least 2 3/4" x 1 3/4" and, using the Merry Christmas stamp from the Mistletoe Season stamp set, ink it up with Granny Apple Green Ink and stamp in the centre
The sentiment piece is die cut using the Big Shot and the Layering Ovals Framelits Die Set.
I keep my dies on magnetic sheets in an Artbin Die Case. To make it easier to identify which size die I need, I wrote the sizes beside them using a Sharpie pen, adding numbers to each size, with the largest being #1 working up to the smallest. This will help with the next steps.
Using the Number 6 straight edged oval from the Layering Ovals set, cut the stamped piece out so the sentiment is in the centre of the oval.
Using the Number 5 scalloped edged oval, cut an oval from a scrap of Granny Green Cardstock.
Layer the two ovals using Liquid Multipurpose Glue.
Take your Whisper White message panel and, using Poppy Parade ink, stamp the Poinsettia onto the bottom right corner, taking the image over the edges slightly.
You are now ready to build your card.
Take one of the DSP design triangles and layer it onto a Whisper White Triangle. Repeat with one of the second DSP design triangles and the other Whisper White triangle.
With the points of the card base in the bottom right corner, layer the triangles onto the two flaps.
Attach 4 Stampin' Dimensionals to the back of the oval sentiment panel, then attach this to the top right corner of the card front.
Position the Poinsettia where you want it to lie on your card to give you a rough idea of where the centre split will run. Turn this over left to right and attach 3 Stampin' Dimensionals to the bottom right side of the piece, making sure it won't cross over the centre split.
Turn this back over and attach it to the bottom/left side flap of the card base as shown.
Attach the message panel to the inside of the card with the Poinsettia in the bottom right corner.
Add a little bling to the front of your card with a cluster of 3 Gold Metallic Pearls to the centre of the Poinsettia, and a single Gold Pearl over the dot on the 'i' of the sentiment.
Your card is now complete - sit back and admire your handiwork!
