T his 4"x6" card has been CASEd from Shelli Gardner's card which was demonstrated at OnStage Dortmund in November 2019, which I had the privilege of attending. Thanks Shelli for the inspiration - I love this card.
Project Recipe
Take a piece of Daffodil Delight Card Stock measuring 6" x 8". With the long edge to the top of your Paper Trimmer or Simply Scoreboard, score down at 4". Fold the scoreline and use your bone folder to burnish the crease for a crisp fold.
(As A4 cardstock is not 12" long, I cut my 6x4 bases slightly smaller so I can get 2 card bases out of my A4 card. This involves cutting the 6" side of the card at 5 27/32" instead. From here on, use the measurements in brackets when cutting the rest of your card pieces. If there are no bracketed measurements, everyone uses the same ones).
On a piece of Whisper White Card Stock stamp the egg outline twice in Jet Black Stazon. Using Highland Heather Classic Ink, stamp the stripes over the outline then die cut the image using the egg die from the Dino Dies. If you don't have the dies, then cut them out using Paper Snips.
If you prefer, you can stamp the stripes first, then the outline. Either way, stand up so that you are looking directly down onto the stamp to help with lining the images up. This is the beauty of Photopolymer Stamps!
Take a piece of Whisper White Card Stock measuring 5 1/2" x 3 1/2" ( 5 17/32" x 3 1/2") and, using the Full of Happiness Stamp Set, stamp the chick using Daffodil Delight ink, the legs and beak using Grapefruit Grove Ink and the eyes using Early Espresso Ink as shown in the photo (note that the clear line on the beak needs to be on the right hand side and the largest eye is also on the right). Use your egg shell half as a guide as to where to stamp your legs as they need to be poking out of the shell.
Layer your egg shell halves so that they overlap with the stripe on the cracked edge lines up with the same line on the other half as shown. Using the piercer on your Take-Your-Pick or a tiny hole punch, pierce a hole into both egg halves on the right hand side. Push the prongs of a Metallic Brad through the two holes, then separate the prongs and squash them down as close to the brad head as possible. You may need to use the edge of a punch to help squash these down enough so that the top half of your shell isn't loose. It should only move when you pull the top shell by hand.
Attach the stamped panel to your card base using your preferred adhesive (I like to use the Multipurpose Liquid Glue for this as it allows a little "wiggle room" when lining up your borders).
Attach the bottom half of the egg shell to your card using Stampin' Dimensionals making sure you stick one over the prongs of the brad to stop it moving. The top half of your shell should be left unattached.
On a piece of Whisper White Card Stock measuring 1" x 2 3/4" and stamp the Happy Easter from the stamp set using Highland Heather Ink. Using a piece of Stampin' Sponge, ink the edges then attach the greeting to your card as shown.
Your card is now finished so sit back and admire your creation.
