H ere is a box that will hold four Pencils, two erasers, and one small pencil sharpener. I also made covered notebooks to go with this box. This is a simple but fun project.
Project Recipe
Cut a piece of DSP to 9 1/2 by 4 1/2. Score the 9 1/2 side at 3/4, 8 1/4, and 9. Score the 4 1/2 side at 3/4, 2, 2 3/4 and 4.
Cut the narrow tab off the bottom (only has on score line--4 1/2 side). Cut the rest of the tabs up to the score line, wedge the small tabs. Cut the narrow tab and the wide tab off the top. Cut the other tabs free to the second score line wedge the narrow tabs. Cut the tops of the narrow tabs off at the first score line.
Fold and burnish the score lines and round the corners on the long, wide tab at the top. Put tear n tape or fast fuse on the outside of the long narrow tab.
Fold the wide tab over the narrow tab to make a box. Fast fuse or tear n tape on the inside of the tab at the bottom closest to the narrow tab. Fold in to seal the bottom of the box. The top narrow tabs fold in and the tall tab makes an easy open lid. It also makes the box reusable.
I pair these with a shopping list sized covered notebook. I have my local print shop cut a 8 by 5 legal pad in half. I then take coordinating DSP and cover it. The back measures 8 x 2 1/2, and the front measures 8 1/8 by 2 1/2 scored at 1/8.
