M asculine birthday card using heat embossing, faux suede technique, and Stampin' Up! products.
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Basic Black Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Pretty Peacock Cardstock
- 3-3/4" x 5" of small Pretty Peacock plaid design from Glorious Gingham 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper
- 2" x 3" from Basic Black Cardstock
- 3/4" x 3-1/2" from Pretty Peacock Cardstock
Adhere the piece of Glorious Gingham Designer Paper to the center of the large Pretty Peacock rectangle and then to the front of the Basic Black card.
Unlock the Banners Pick A Punch. Slide one short edge of the the Pretty Peacock strip into the right side of the punch (the side of the punch with the inward notch) as far as it will go and get it centered. Punch. Repeat on the other end.
Rub the Embossing Buddy included in the Embossing Additions Tool Kit all over the punched Pretty Peacock strip.
Mount the "sending birthday wishes" sentiment from the Wildlife Wonder Set on Block H. Ink it up with the VersaMark Pad. Stamp it in the center of the punched Pretty Peacock strip.
Lay the VersaMark stamped rectangle in the center of the Powder Pal included in the Embossing Additions Tool Kit. Sprinkle on some black powder from the Basics Stampin' Emboss Powders so it covers the entire sentiment. Tap off excess powder. Return the excess powder to the container to use again later.
Heat the powder with the Heat Tool on the highest setting until it is completely melted (shiny and smooth).
Tip: Use the Crafting Tweezers included in the Embossing Additions Tool Kit to hold the cardstock while you are heating it so you don't burn your fingers.
Cut a 4-1/4" piece of the Black & White 1/4" Gingham Ribbon so it has a sharp angle on each end.
Use small pieces of Tear & Tape Adhesive to adhere the ribbon to the back of the heat embossed, punched sentiment strip so it is centered top to bottom and about 5/8" of ribbon sticks out to either side.
Use Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the sentiment strip with ribbon attached to the front of the card so it is centered side to side and is about 3/4" from the top.
Unlock the Beary Cute Punch. Hold the punch upside down so you can see the punching area. Slide the black cardstock rectangle into the punch and get it centered in the punching area. Punch.
Rub the bear punch out over a long edge of the Bone Folder repeatedly. Change the direction of the punch out and Bone Folder every so often. Distress the entire punch out completely until the cardstock starts to separate.
Very carefully pull the separated cardstock apart until you have two bear punch outs facing opposite directions and having a soft, fuzzy surface on one side of each piece.
Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Fine-Tip Glue Pen to adhere the two fuzzy bear punch outs to the front of the card as shown so they are facing each other and the noses almost touch. Make sure to put the glue on the smooth sides of the punch outs so the fuzzy sides are face up on the card.
