P retty card to wish someone well or encourage them through a rough time using Stampin' Up! products. It also fits the Global Design Project Sketch Challenge - #GDP090.
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock pieces to the following sizes using a Stampin' Trimmer:
- card from Soft Sky Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Soft Sky Cardstock
- 1-1/2" x 2-1/2" from Calypso Coral Cardstock
- 1" x 3-1/4" from Whisper White Cardstock
- scrap of Whisper White Cardstock at least 3" long
Mount the sentiment of your choice from the Weather Together Set on Block H.
If you are using one of the small, one word sentiments, then mount it on Block G instead and just ink it up with the Basic Gray Archival Ink Pad and stamp it in the lower right corner of the Soft Sky rectangle. Skip to Step 5.
If you want to use one of the longer sentiments, you'll need to do a little masking. After you've mounted the stamp, carefully place a piece of Post-It Note on the stamp so it covers the last couple of words. Ink up the exposed portion of the stamp using the Basic Gray Archival Ink Pad. REMOVE the Post-It Note piece. Stamp the first couple of words in the lower right corner of the Soft Sky rectangle. Leave room below it for the rest of the sentiment. Leave the stamp on the block.
Clean the stamp using the Stampin' Mist and Stampin' Scrub, but leave it on the block.
Put another piece of Post-It Note over the first couple of words on the sentiment (the words you already stamped). Carefully ink up the exposed words using the Basic Gray Archival Ink Pad. REMOVE the Post-It Note. Stamp the rest of the sentiment below the first part in the lower right corner of the Soft Sky rectangle.
Adhere the sentiment stamped Soft Sky rectangle to the front of the Soft Sky card.
Pick out one Delicate White Doily. Be careful, they like to stick together.
Using Paper Snips, cut the doily in half. Then, cut one half in half so you have a quarter of a doily. Put the rest of the doily pieces away for use on a future project. Place the quarter doily piece on your work surface.
Ink up the Sponge Brayer by rolling it several times across the open Daffodil Delight Ink Pad. Roll in one direction only by picking up the brayer each time and rolling again. If you roll back and forth, you'll only ink up a small portion of the roller.
Tip: Use a light touch when rolling the brayer on the ink pad or the plastic prongs on the brayer handle might dig into your ink pad and tear the surface.
Roll the inked up brayer across the doily piece until you've reached the color saturation you want. Re-ink the brayer as needed.
Mount the curved umbrella handle image from the Weather Together Set on Block H. Ink it up with the Basic Gray Archival Ink Pad. Stamp it on the 1" x 3-1/4" strip of white cardstock.
Pick out the matching curved umbrella handle framelit from the Umbrella Weather Framelits. Place the stamped umbrella handle on the Cutting Pad on top of the Magnetic Platform on the Big Shot. Place the framelit on top so it is centered. Place another Cutting Pad on top and run through the Big Shot.
Use the brush tip of the Calypso Coral Marker to color in the curved handle at the bottom of the umbrella handle.
Use the Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush to color in the shaft of the umbrella handle to give it some shine.
Mount the plain umbrella top image from the Weather Together Set on Block H. Ink it up with the Basic Gray Archival Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the Calypso Coral rectangle.
Mount the dotted umbrella panels image from the Weather Together Set on Block H. Ink it up with the Calypso Coral Ink Pad and stamp it inside the gray outlined umbrella image on the Calypso Coral rectangle.
Pick out the umbrella top framelit from the Umbrella Weather Framelits. Place the stamped umbrella top image on the Cutting Pad on top of the Magnetic Platform on the Big Shot. Place the framelit on top so it is centered. Place another Cutting Pad on top and run through the Big Shot.
Adhere the umbrella handle to the back of the umbrella top in the center. I wanted my umbrella a little shorter so the top of the umbrella handle nearly touches the top of the umbrella top.
Pinch the cut edges of the dyed doily piece together so that the doily curves in on itself a bit. Adhere the doily piece to the back of the umbrella top using Stampin' Dimensionals so that the doily peeks out from behind the umbrella top on the right side.
Add a couple more Dimensionals to the back of the umbrella top. Use Paper Snips to cut some thin pieces of Dimensionals from the edge of the sheet and adhere those to the back of the shaft and curved handle.
Wrap some Silver Metallic Thread around 3 fingers a few times. Cut the thread free from the spool.
Peel off the protective backings on the Stampin' Dimensionals on the back of the top of the umbrella. Adhere the loops of metallic thread to the dimensionals so the thread will show behind the top and right side of the umbrella top and doily piece.
Remove the protective backings from the rest of the Dimensional pieces. Adhere the umbrella and doily piece to the bottom left side of the card front.
Pick out the two cloud framelits from the Umbrella Weather Framelits. Place the scrap of Whisper White Cardstock on the Cutting Pad on top of the Magnetic Platform on the Big Shot. Place the two cloud framelits on top. Place another Cutting Pad on top and run through the Big Shot.
Paint both the clouds with the Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush to give them some sparkle.
Adhere the two clouds to the card front so they peek out from behind the umbrella top and doily piece on the upper left and lower right sides.
Cut a 4" piece of the Daffodil Delight 1/4" Double-Stitched Ribbon. Tie a half knot in the center. Trim the ends.
Adhere the ribbon knot to the umbrella handle where the shaft meets the curved handle using a Mini Glue Dot.
