L ovely Christmas card using Stampin' Up! products.
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Cherry Cobbler Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 3-1/4" x 5-1/2" from Shaded Spruce Cardstock
- 3" x 5-1/2" of one of the predominately red plaid designs from Wrapped In Plaid 6" x 6" Specialty Designer Series Paper
- 2-1/2" x 3-1/4" from Whisper White Cardstock
- 1-1/2" x 3-1/4" from Shaded Spruce Cardstock
- 1-1/4" x 3-1/2" from Shaded Spruce Cardstock
Adhere the strip of Wrapped In Plaid Designer Paper to the center of the 3-1/4" x 5-1/2" strip of Shaded Spruce Cardstock.
Adhere the matted strip of designer paper to the front of the Cherry Cobbler card down the center.
Mount the cardinal image from the Toile Christmas Set on Block I. Ink it up with the Memento Pad. Stamp the top of the bird on one end of the white strip leaving room to punch it out.
Unlock the 2-1/4" Circle Punch. Hold it upside down so you can see the punching area. Slide the stamped cardinal image into the punch and get it centered in the punching area so the top of the bird is as close to the left side and top as possible. Punch.
Put the cardinal circle punch out on some Grid Paper to protect your work surface. You need to make sure that you protect your work surface with paper as the Stampin' Blends Markers do bleed through.
Start coloring the cardinal with the Stampin' Blends Markers. The markers have a brush tip for coloring in larger areas and a fine tip for coloring in smaller areas. Use the dark colors first and then the light colors to blend the colors and color in the spaces. Work on one area at a time so the inks will be wet and will blend easier.
Use the Dark Crumb Cake Marker to color in some of the bird's breast, a little along the top of the shadow lines on the wing, a little along the shadow lines around the head, and a little along the shadow lines on the beak.
Use the Dark and Light Cherry Cobbler Markers to color in the rest of the bird's feathers.
Use the Dark Mango Melody Marker to color in the bird's eye and beak.
Go back over the areas you'd colored with the Dark Crumb Cake Marker again with the Dark Crumb Cake Marker to blend the colors.
Use the Color Lifter Marker as needed to remove excess ink.
Adhere the colored cardinal circle punch out to the bottom left side of the card so the left side is about 1/4" from the left side of the card and the bottom is about 1" from the bottom of the card.
Pick out the grouping of 5 leaves die and the grouping of 3 leaves die from the Christmas Cardinal Dies. Put the dies on top of the 1-1/2" x 3-1/4" rectangle of Shaded Spruce on a platform on your cutting and embossing tool. Make sure the dies do NOT overlap! Run through the tool. Use the Take Your Pick Die Brush Tip and/or paper-piercing tool on the Take Your Pick to remove the pieces.
Use the Fine-Tip Glue Pen or Mulitpurpose Liquid Glue to adhere the leaves cut outs to the front of the card so they are just to the right of the bird on the circle punch out and overlap the top and right edges a bit. Make sure the bottoms of the stems are near the bottom of the circle punch out.
Mount the "Christmas Wishes" banner image from the Toile Christmas Set on Block H. Ink it up with the Golden Glitz Delicata Metallic Ink Pad. Stamp it on a 1-1/4" x 3-1/2" strip of Shaded Spruce Cardstock.
Tip: The Delicata Metallic Inks dry almost instantly, so no need to heat set or wait for them to dry.
Pick out the matching banner die from the Christmas Cardinal Dies. Put it on top of the stamped sentiment banner on a platform on your cutting and embossing tool so the sentiment banner is centered. Run through the tool.
Adhere the sentiment banner cut out to the front of the card so it overlaps the bottom right side of the cardinal circle punch out covering the ends of the stems and sticks over the right edge of the matted designer paper layer a bit.
Cut a 3" piece of Shaded Spruce/Gold 3/8" Striped Ribbon.
Tie a half knot in the center of the ribbon. Trim the ends.
Use a Mini Glue Dot to adhere the ribbon knot to the front of the card at a slight angle so it covers the lower left side of the sentiment banner cut out.
Use the mini spatula on the Take Your Pick tool to pick up a Gold Faceted Gem being sure to get the adhesive as well. Adhere it to the upper right corner of the matted designer paper strip.
