A dorable mini self-closing treat boxes made with Stampin' Up! products.
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- 4" x 4-1/4" from cardstock (I used Calypso Coral, Fresh Freesia, Soft Succulent, Pale Papaya, and Bumblebee)
- 1-3/4" x 2" of pattern of choice from Pansy Petals 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper
- 1" x 3" from Basic White Cardstock
- 1" x 3-1/2" from Soft Succulent Cardstock
- 2-1/4" x 2-1/2" from cardstock (I used Calypso Coral, Fresh Freesia, Pale Papaya, and Bumblebee)
Place the 4" x 4-1/4" piece of cardstock on the Simply Scored Scoring Tool so the 4" edge is along the top. Score down at the 7/8" and 3" marks.
Rotate the cardstock on the Simply Scored Scoring Tool so the 7/8" scored line is on the bottom. Score all the way down at the 1/4" and 2-1/4" marks. Score ONLY down to the 3" scored line along the top edge at the 1-1/4" and 3-1/4" marks.
Place the scored cardstock on top of the Stampin' Pierce Mat so the 7/8" scored line is along the top and the skinny 1/4" flap is on the right side. Use a ruler and pencil to mark along the 7/8" scored line at 1" and 3" from the left edge.
Use the ruler and the fine point of the stylus from the Simply Scored Scoring Tool to score at an angle down from the 1" pencil mark to the corners of the rectangle formed by the horizontal 7/8" score line and 3" score line and the vertical 2-1/4" score line. This will form a scored triangle.
Use the ruler and the fine point of the stylus from the Simply Scored Scoring Tool to score at an angle down from the 3" pencil mark to the corners of the rectangle formed by the horizontal 7/8" score line and 3" score line and the vertical 2-1/4" score line. This will form a scored triangle.
Use the eraser to erase your pencil marks.
Fold on all straight score lines using a Bone Folder. No need to fold on the angled score lines.
Use Paper Snips Scissors to cut off the skinny little tabs at the top and bottom of the skinny 1/4" flap.
Use Paper Snips Scissors to cut on the vertical 2-1/4" score line down to the 7/8" horizontal score line. Use Paper Snips Scissors to cut on the vertical 1-1/4", 2-1/4", and 3-1/4" score lines up to the horizontal 3" score line.
Tip: Cut just on either side of the score line to cut out a really thin sliver of cardstock. You may have to pull the sliver loose with your fingers. This gives you a little more wiggle room for closing up your tabs.
Fold the cardstock over on itself along the vertical 2-1/4" score line. Tuck the skinny 1/4" tab inside the folded cardstock.
Unlock the Delightful Tag Topper Punch. Slide the short edge of the folded cardstock with the two large tabs into the punch as far as it will go and get it centered. Punch. Leave the punch unlocked.
Place the 1-3/4" x 2" piece of designer paper on top of the Stampin' Pierce Mat so the 1-3/4" edge is along the top and the side of paper you want showing on your project is face down. Use a ruler and pencil to mark 7/8" along the top edge.
Use the ruler and pencil to draw a line at an angle down from the 7/8" pencil mark to the bottom corners of the designer paper rectangle.
Use Paper Snips Scissors to cut along the pencil lines creating one big triangle with the point at the top and two skinny, narrow triangles with the points at the bottom.
Place the triangles face down on the Silicone Craft Sheet. Put a layer of Multipurpose Liquid Glue all over the back of the big triangle, getting into the corners as much as possible. Adhere the big triangle to the cardstock over the big triangle area formed by the score lines when the skinny 1/4" flap is on the right side. One at a time, put a layer of Multipurpose Liquid Glue all over the back of the small triangles, getting into the corners as much as possible. Adhere them to either side of the big triangle in their corresponding areas.
Tip: Using Multipurpose Liquid Glue lets you move the designer paper pieces around for a few seconds to get them properly positioned. Using the Silicone Craft Sheet to apply the glue helps protect your work surface.
Put a strip of Tear & Tape Adhesive on the top of the skinny 1/4" flap. Use Paper Snips Scissors to cut off excess Tear & Tape along the long edge.
Remove the protective backing from the Tear & Tape and adhere the sides of the box together.
Fold the square bottom flaps in to the bottom of the box forming a square base. Use small pieces of Tear & Tape Adhesive on three of the flaps to hold everything together.
Slide one short edge of the white strip into the unlocked Delightful Tag Topper Punch as far as it will go and get it centered. Punch.
Use the Paper Trimmer to cut off excess cardstock from the bottom of the punched white strip so you have a tag that is 2-1/2" long.
As you are ready to stamp using the Timeless Tulips Photopolymer Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp.
Mount the "hello" sentiment from the Timeless Tulips Set on Block A. Ink it up with the Ink Pad you want to use (I used Calypso Coral, Fresh Freesia, Evening Evergreen, Pale Papaya, and Bumblebee). Stamp the sentiment on the top of the punched white tag as close to the hole in the top of the tag a possible.
Mount the larger, more open tulip flower image from the Timeless Tulips Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Ink Pad of your choice (I used Calypso Coral, Fresh Freesia, Pale Papaya, and Bumblebee). Stamp it on the left end of the horizontal cardstock strip of the same color (I used Calypso Coral, Fresh Freesia, Pale Papaya, and Bumblebee) so the flower is pointing up.
Unlock the Tulip Builder Punch. Hold it upside down so you can see the punching area. Slide the stamped large, open tulip image on the left end of the strip into the punch and get it centered in the corresponding punching area. Punch. Leave the punch unlocked.
Mount the slightly curved leaf image from the Timeless Tulips Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Ink Pad of your choice (I used Soft Succulent and Evening Evergreen). Stamp it on the bottom of the skinny vertical Soft Succulent strip so the leaf is straight up and down with the bulge on the left side.
Hold the unlocked Tulip Builder Punch upside down so you can see the punching area. Slide the stamped leaf image on the bottom of the strip into the punch and get it centered in the corresponding punching area. Punch.
Adhere the tulip flower punch out to the bottom of the stamped tag so it is just under the stamped sentiment, the base is even with the bottom of the tag, and it sticks out to the right of the tag a bit. Be careful not to get adhesive over the bottom and right edges of the tag.
Adhere the leaf punch out to the bottom of the stamped tag so it is just overlaps the bottom left side of the tulip flower punch out, the bottom is even with the bottom of the tag, and it sticks out to the left of the tag a bit. Be careful not to get adhesive over the bottom and left edges of the tag.
Use the mini spatula on the Take Your Pick to carefully peel up a small butterfly from a sheet of Brushed Brass Butterflies making sure that you get the adhesive backing as well. Adhere it to the tag in the white space between the sentiment, tulip flower, and leaf as shown.
Fill the treat box with candy, jewelry, cash, etc.
Cut a 6" piece of the ribbon of choice so it has a sharp angle on one end.
Hold the tag up to the front of the filled treat box so the holes in the top of the tag and the treat box line up. Feed the sharp angle end of the ribbon through the holes. Pull the ribbon through until it is even. Tie in place with a half knot. Trim the ends of the ribbon.
