Project Recipe
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Granny Apple Green Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Soft Suede Cardstock
- 1-1/2" x 5-1/4" from dark and light green stripes on white background design from Peaceful Poppies Designer Series Paper, cut so the stripes are vertical on the horizontal strip
- 2-1/4" square from Lovely Lipstick Cardstock
- 2-1/4" square from Whisper White Cardstock
- 1" x 2" from Whisper White Cardstock
Lightly spritz the Crumb Cake rectangle with water and insert into the Hammered Metal 3D Embossing Folder so about 1-1/4" of a long side of the cardstock hangs out the long side of the folder. Place the folder with the paper inside on your die cutting and embossing tool and run through the machine. Make sure nothing hangs over the side of the platform. Set aside to dry.
Mount the cactus image from the The Gang's All Meer Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Memento Pad. Stamp it on the left side of the white square near the center. Leave a little room above the image and some room to the right of the image.
Mount the lizard image from the The Gang's All Meer Set on Block A. Ink it up with the Memento Pad. Stamp it on the right side of the white square just to the right of the cactus and so the bottom of the cactus and the bottom of the lizard are in line.
Mount the party hat image from the The Gang's All Meer Set on Block A. Ink it up with the Lovely Lipstick Ink Pad. Stamp it on top of the lizard's head.
Pick out the smooth square die from the Layering Squares Dies that cuts out a square that is 1-5/8" wide. Put it on top of the stamped cactus and lizard image on a platform on your cutting and embossing tool so the images are centered side to side and there is just a little room above the cactus. Run through the tool.
Make sure you have some paper (Grid Paper works great) at your work space.to protect the work surface. The Stampin' Blends Markers will bleed through the cardstock that you are coloring so you need to protect your work surface.
Place the desert scene stamped white square cut out on the work paper and start coloring with the Stampin' Blends Markers. The markers have a brush tip for coloring in larger areas and a fine tip for coloring in smaller areas. Work on one area at a time so the inks will be wet and will blend easier.
Use the Dark and Light Old Olive Markers and Dark and Light Granny Apple Green Markers to color in the base of the cactus and the lizard. Leave the lizard's eyes uncolored.
Use the fine tip of the Dark Granny Apple Green Marker to color in the dots on the party hat.
Use the Dark and Light Lovely Lipstick Markers to color in the flowers on the cactus.
Use the fine tip of the Dark Lovely Lipstick Marker to color over the lizard's tongue.
Use the Dark and Light Soft Suede Markers to color in the ground. Draw in any empty spaces left by the stamped images as needed
Use the Color Lifter Marker to remove any excess color as needed.
Pick out the scalloped square die from the Layering Squares Dies that cuts out a scalloped square that is 2" wide. Put it on top of the Lovely Lipstick square on a platform on your cutting and embossing tool. Run through the tool.
Adhere the colored white desert scene square cut out to the center of the scalloped Lovely Lipstick square.
If the dry embossed Soft Suede rectangle is dry, proceed with the next step.
Tip: You can speed up drying with a Heat Tool if needed.
Adhere the strip of Peaceful Poppies Designer Paper to the smooth bottom of the dry embossed Soft Suede rectangle. It may overlap the dry embossing a bit, that is fine.
Cut a 6" piece of Granny Apple Green 1/2" Textured Weave Ribbon.
Lay the ribbon across the designer paper/Soft Suede Cardstock rectangle so it covers the seam between the cardstock and designer paper. Secure in place on the back with strips of Tear & Tape Adhesive.
Remove the protective backings from the Tear & Tape pieces and add SNAIL to the back of the Soft Suede rectangle. Adhere the rectangle to the front of the Granny Apple Green card.
Use Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the matted desert scene square to the front of the card on the left side so it overlaps the ribbon just a bit.
Mount the "Happy Birthday to a Stand-Up Friend" sentiment from the The Gang's All Meer Set on Block B. Ink up only the words "Happy Birthday" using the brush tip of the Lovely Lipstick Marker. Breathe on the stamp to moisten the ink. Stamp the sentiment in the center of the white strip.
VERY IMPORTANT: You must use the regular Lovely Lipstick Marker for this step. Do NOT use either of the Lovely Lipstick Stampin' Blends!
Pick out the skinny tag die from the Ornate Frames Dies. Put it on top of the stamped sentiment on a platform on your cutting and embossing tool so the sentiment is centered up and down with the tag end on the left side of the sentiment and the sentiment closer to the right (flat) end of the tag. Run through the tool.
Adhere the sentiment tag cut out to the front of the card at a slight angle so it overlaps the ribbon just to the right of the matted desert scene square.
Cut a 3-3/4" piece of Granny Apple Green 1/2" Textured Weave Ribbon.
Tie a half knot in the center of the ribbon. Trim the ends.
Use a Mini Glue Dot to adhere the ribbon knot to the card front at a slight angle at the top of the sentiment tag.
Use the mini spatula on the Take Your Pick to carefully peel up a Granny Apple Green dot from a sheet of Glitter Enamel Dots making sure that you get the adhesive backing as well. Adhere it to the card front in the upper right corner.
