O ut-of-the-box use of Stampin' Up! products to make a birthday card.
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Starry Sky Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Balmy Blue Cardstock
- 3" x 4" of white stars on dark blue background design from Enjoy The Journey 12" x 12" Specialty Designer Series Paper
- 1-3/4" square from Basic White Cardstock
Pick out the die that is about 3" x 3-5/8" from the Layering Diorama Dies. Put it on top of the large, horizontal Balmy Blue rectangle on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so it is roughly centered but slightly closer to the top and left edges. Run through the machine. Keep both pieces.
As you are ready to stamp using the Thanks A Bunch Set and the stamp set included in the Kindness Cards Kit, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp. Put a piece of Grid Paper on top of the Mat to protect it from ink.
Mount the large, more detailed carrot stripes image from the Thanks A Bunch Set on Block H. Ink it up with the Mossy Meadow Ink Pad. Stamp it multiple times along the bottom of the large, horizontal Balmy Blue rectangle with the opening cut in it so the lines are vertical and the bottom edges go off the bottom edge of the cardstock. Remember to re-ink the stamp each time. Let some of the images overlap and go off the left and right edges a bit. You are stamping the grass for the scene.
Mount the large, more solid carrot image from the Thanks A Bunch Set on Block H. Ink it up with the Mossy Meadow Ink Pad. Stamp it on the left and right sides of the horizontal Balmy Blue rectangle so the pointy tip is straight up and the rounded bottoms are in the grass stamped along the bottom edge. Stamp just to the sides of the hole cut in the center of the cardstock. Remember to re-ink the stamp each time. Leave the stamp on the block.
Re-ink the large, more solid carrot image on Block H with the Mossy Meadow Ink Pad. Stamp it on the blob scrap of Balmy Blue cut out of the center of the large Balmy Blue rectangle.
Mount the smaller, single, solid carrot image from the Thanks A Bunch Set on Block G. Ink it up with the Mossy Meadow Ink Pad. Stamp it on the right side of the horizontal Balmy Blue rectangle so the pointy tip is straight up and the rounded bottom is in the grass stamped along the bottom edge. It should be just to the left of the previously stamped large carrot "tree" image on the right side of the opening cut into the center of the rectangle and should slightly overlap it. Leave the stamp on the block.
Re-ink the smaller, single, solid carrot image on Block G with the Mossy Meadow Ink Pad. Stamp it on the blob scrap of Balmy Blue cut out of the center of the large Balmy Blue rectangle.
Take the cap off the brush tip end of the Dark Night Of Navy Stampin' Blends. Hold the end of the Blends marker horizontally over the stamped and cut Balmy Blue cardstock about 1" above the cardstock. Sharply tap the Bone Folder onto the Blends marker to make little splatters of color appear on your cardstock. Move the Blends marker around and tap it each time until you have the splatter coverage you want.
Tip: Be sure to clear your work area before splattering so you don't get splatters of ink where you don't want them.
Lay the stars Enjoy The Journey Designer Paper rectangle on top of the Silicone Craft Sheet. Adhere the stamped and splattered rectangle with the hole cut in the center over the designer paper.
Note: By adhering things on top of the Silicone Craft Sheet, you don't have to worry about sticking things to your work surface!
Adhere the stamped, splattered, and layered cardstock/designer paper rectangle to the front of the Starry Sky card.
Use Paper Snips Scissors to cut out the large and small carrot "trees" stamped on the blob of Balmy Blue Cardstock by hand. Keep all the pieces!
Use Stampin' Dimensionals and Mini Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the cut out large carrot "tree" to the front of the card as shown. It should be on the left side and should slightly overlap the stamped large tree on that side and the left side of the hole cut into the cardstock.
Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Fine-Tip Glue Pen to adhere the cut out small carrot "tree" to the front of the card as shown. It should be on the left side a slight distance from the large "trees" and should slightly overlap the bottom of the hole cut into the cardstock.
Pick out the stitched square die that cuts out a 1-1/2" square from the Stylish Shapes Dies. Put it on the white square on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Run through the machine.
Mount the "you shine like the stars have a great day" sentiment from the stamp set included in the Kindness Cards Kit on Block B. Ink up ONLY the words "you shine like the stars" with the side of the brush tip of the Starry Sky Stampin' Write Marker. Breathe on the stamp to moisten the ink. Stamp it onto the white square cut out so the square is making a diamond. Clean the stamp using the Stampin' Scrub and Stampin' Mist Stamp Cleaner and/or Simply Shammy, but leave the stamp on the block.
Adhere the sentiment diamond cut out to the front of the card using Stampin' Dimensionals so it overlaps the upper right side of the hole cut into the cardstock as shown.
Ink up ONLY the words "have a great day" in the banner on the "you shine like the stars have a great day" sentiment on Block B using the side of the brush tip of the Starry Sky Stampin' Write Marker. Breathe on the stamp to moisten the ink. Stamp it onto the remaining scrap of Balmy Blue blob somewhere. Clean the stamp using the Stampin' Scrub and Stampin' Mist Stamp Cleaner and/or Simply Shammy and put the stamp away.
Use Paper Snips Scissors to cut out the banner sentiment stamped on the scrap of Balmy Blue by hand.
Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Fine-Tip Glue Pen to adhere the cut out sentiment banner to the bottom of the sentiment diamond cut out as shown.
Use the mini spatula on the Take Your Pick to carefully peel up three different size rhinestones from the sheet of Rhinestone Basic Jewels making sure that you get the adhesive backings as well. Adhere them to the card front as shown somewhere on the stars designer paper showing through the cut out.
