Project Recipe
Cut card stock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Stampin' Trimmer:
- card from Crushed Curry Card Stock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Emerald Envy Card Stock
- 2-1/8" x 4-7/8" from Pacific Point Card Stock
- 2" x 4-3/4" from Whisper White Card Stock
- 2" square of rows of multi-colored candles on white design of paper from Party Animal Designer Series Paper
- 2-1/4" x 3" from Whisper White Thick Card Stock (if you don't have the thick card stock, you can use regular white card stock, the thick just holds up better to watercoloring)
- 1" x 4-1/4" from Tangerine Tango Card Stock
Mount the long string image from the Any Occasion Photopolymer Set on Block H. Ink it up with the Basic Gray Archival Ink Pad. Stamp it two times along the top of the long Whisper White rectangle at slight angles so the strings meet in the upper right corner. Be sure to re-ink the stamp each time.
Mount the tiny bow image from the Any Occasion Stamp on Block A. Ink it up with the Basic Gray Archival Ink Pad. Stamp it over the top of the two strings where they meet in the upper right corner of the long white rectangle. Clean the stamp using the Stampin' Mist Stamp Cleaner and Stampin' Scrub and put it away for now.
Mount the "happy birthday" sentiment from the Any Occasion Photopolymer Set on Block H. Carefully ink up only the word "happy" using the Tangerine Tango Ink Pad. Stamp the word "happy" so it appears to be hanging from the bottom string as close to the left edge of the long white rectangle as you can. Clean the stamp using the Stampin' Mist and Stampin' Scrub. Leave the stamp mounted on the block.
Carefully ink up the word "birthday" only using the Pacific Point Ink Pad. Stamp the word so it appears to be hanging from the lower string so it is as close to the end of the word "happy" as you can get.
Mount the three scallops banner image from the Any Occasion Photopolymer Set on Block A. Ink it up with the Crushed Curry Ink Pad and stamp it below the happy birthday string on the left side of the long white rectangle at a bit of an angle. Clean the stamp and leave it on the block.
Ink up the three scallops banner image again using the Emerald Envy Ink Pad. Stamp it on the long white rectangle at a slight upward angle so it touches the end of the previously stamped Crushed Curry banner. Clean the stamp and leave it on the block.
Ink up the three scallops banner image again using the Tangerine Tango Ink Pad. Stamp it at a slight upward angle onto the long white rectangle so it touches the end of the previously stamped Emerald Envy banner and goes off the right edge of the white rectangle.
One at a time, mount the small banner piece images and tassel image from the Any Occasion Photopolymer Set on Block A. Stamp them one at a time just below the top string image using the colors of ink you prefer for each piece. Remember to clean the stamps if you need to before using a different color of ink or putting the stamps away.
If you need to, use a Blender Pen to pick up ink from the pad lids to color in any spaces between the tops of the banner pieces or tassel and the string. Remember to clean the tip of the Blender Pen by scribbling on scratch paper until no more color is coming off before switching to a different color of ink and when you are done using the Blender Pen.
Mount the tiny solid heart image from the Any Occasion Photopolymer Set on Block A. Ink it up with the color of your choice and stamp it in the center of the open, rounded-bottom-edge banner piece hanging from the top string.
Mount the tiny bow image from the Any Occasion Stamp on Block A. Ink it up with the same color of ink as you used to stamp the tassel image hanging from the top string. Stamp it over the top of the string over the tassel image.
Adhere the square of designer paper to the bottom of the stamped long white rectangle. Make sure the candles are upright.
Adhere the stamped white layer with the designer paper adhered to it to the long Pacific Point rectangle.
Hold the Candle Border Punch so you can see the punching area. Slide the lower right corner of the Emerald Envy rectangle into the punch from the left side. Carefully line up the punch on the card stock so you'll only punch out 5 or 6 candles and won't get any weird edges on the side of the card stock. Punch.
Adhere the matted, stamped white/designer paper layer to the left side of the punched Emerald Envy layer so there is about 1/4" of green card stock showing on the top, bottom, and left edges.
Open the Banner Triple Punch and slide the thin strip of Tangerine Tango Card Stock into the punch as far as it will go. Punch.
Cut a 6" piece of Emerald Envy 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon. Tie it around the unpunched edge of the Tangerine Tango strip with a simple knot. Trim the ends.
Mount the truck image from the Tasty Trucks Photopolymer Set on Block D. Ink it up with the Basic Gray Archival Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the Whisper White Thick Card Stock rectangle.
Mount the set of two pennant flags image from the Tasty Trucks Photopolymer Set on Block A. Ink it up with the Basic Gray Archival Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the serving window of the truck.
Squeeze the lid of the Crushed Curry Ink Pad to get a pool of ink in the lid. Open the pad but leave the lid exposed. Use a Blender Pen to pick up some ink from the puddle in the lid and color in the the reflectors, gas cap, hubcaps, headlight, window frames, and top balls on the pennant flags. Pick up more ink from the pad lid as needed. Remember to stroke the tip of the Blender Pen in one direction only. If you go back and forth, then the card stock could start to pill and tear. Make some areas darker for a shading effect. When you are done coloring with the Crushed Curry color, scribble the tip of the Blender Pen back and forth on scratch paper until no more color is coming off.
Repeat the step above using the Tangerine Tango Ink Pad. Color in the fat stripes on the window canopy and one of the pennant flags. Clean the Blender Pen.
Repeat the steps above using the Emerald Envy Ink Pad. Color in the skinny stripes on the window canopy and the other pennant flag. Clean the Blender Pen.
Repeat the steps above using the Pacific Point Ink Pad. Color in the center stripe of the truck. Clean the Blender Pen.
Repeat the steps above using the Basic Gray Archival Ink Pad. Color in the tires. Clean the Blender Pen.
Use the Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush to color in the two front windows and give them some shimmer.
Cut out the truck image using Paper Snips.
Without adhering anything, place the punched, beribboned Tangerine Tango strip and the truck image on top of the card front to get an idea for positioning. Make a mental note of how much of the designer paper is covered by the Tangerine Tango strip and adjust the positioning of the ribbon so it will be even with the left edge of the stamped white/designer paper layer. Remove the pieces and adhere the Tangerine Tango piece where you need it to be. Trim off excess card stock on the left side if needed.
Use Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the cut out truck image to the card front.
Use SNAIL and thin lines of Fine-Tip Glue Pen to adhere the card front to the front of the Crushed Curry card.
