T
he gorgeous gold embellished cards and shimmery gold envelopes go beautifully with the gold embellished accent designs and tags from the tag buffet kit to make simple, but elegant Christmas cards.
The tag buffet comes with 30 large tags, 30 small tags, 30 die cut accent pieces, and 36 white die cut labels. If you chose to use Whisper White Cardstock to make your card bases then the pre-cut labels will coordinate with the white card base. Since we used the decorative gold cards with the gold envelopes for this project, the very vanilla Cardstock coordinates much nicer.
Project Recipe
Choose a tag (either large or small) and punch out one of the die cut accent pieces from the Tag Buffet Kit.
Cut off a length of the gold cord that comes with the tag buffet kit (about 12" for small double bow or 24" for large double bow) and loop it through the hole in the top of the tag. For a double bow, fold the cord in half, and tie a bow, holding both lengths of cord at the same time. After the bow is tied, snip the long ends to the length you prefer.
Fold your card in half along the scored line and burnish the fold with your bone folder to give your card a nice flat fold.
For each card you can either:
Adhere the tag to your card front, either aligned with the top and side edges, or at a slant using your preferred adhesive. Then add the accent piece using dimensionals.
- or -
Adhere the tag to your card front using dimensionals. Then add the accent piece directly to the tag front using your preferred adhesive.
Cut a strip of very vanilla Cardstock 3/4" x 3 3/4" (the sentiment will be 3 1/2" in length once the ends have been punched). You can either leave the ends plain, or trim them with your scissors or use one of the Pick a Punch label punches to make the ends of your label pretty. If you use a Pick a Punch label, cut your label just a hair smaller than 3/4" wide to allow it to seat into the punch properly.
You can cut the label length and width to fit the size of your sentiment if your stamps are different sizes than what was used for my examples.
This is also a good use for scraps!
Use a sentiment from your favorite stamp set to stamp the greeting using one of the coordinating colors listed below.
Add the sentiment strip to your card, wherever you think it looks good, either adhering directly to the card or raising up with dimensionals.
Add jewels to your card and sentiment strip as desired.
You can also stamp a greeting on the inside of your card using one of the coordinating colors. (Hint: if you make a mistake in your stamping on inside of the card, which we all do from time to time, you can always cut a piece of Very Vanilla card stock, 3 3/4" x 5", to stamp your sentiment and adhere to the inside of the card. Since the color coordinates nicely your mistake will never be known!)
