A fun birthday card using Stampin' Up! products.
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock pieces to the following sizes using a Stampin' Trimmer:
- card from Pool Party Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Lemon Lime Twist Cardstock
- 2-1/4" x 6" from Pool Party Cardstock
- 3-1/4" x 3-3/4" from Whisper White Cardstock
Pick out the smooth square framelit from the Layering Squares Framelits that cuts out a smooth square that is 2-7/8" wide. Place the Pool Party rectangle on the Cutting Pad on top of the Magnetic Platform on the Big Shot. Place the smooth square framelit on top so one of the points is centered side to side on one of the short ends. Place another Cutting Pad on top and run through the Big Shot. You should have a strip of Pool Party with a notch cut out of the end.
Adhere the Pool Party notched strip to the middle of the Lemon Lime Twist layer and trim off excess along the top.
Adhere the Lemon Lime Twist layer to the front of the Pool Party card.
Ink up the Stylized Birthday stamp with the Lemon Lime Twist Ink Pad. Stamp it as close to the bottom of the white rectangle as possible.
Cut a 4" piece of Linen Thread.
Lay the thread piece across the top of the stamped white layer at an angle going down from the top left corner to about 1" down on the right side. Flip the layer over and fold the ends of the thread over. Adhere the ends of the thread in place with pieces of Tear & Tape Adhesive.
Remove the protective backing from the Tear & Tape strips and add more SNAIL to the back of the white layer. Adhere the layer to the front of the card so it just overlaps the top of the notch on the Pool Party strip a bit.
Cut two 2" pieces of each of the following ribbons:
- Lemon Lime Twist 1/4" Ombre Ribbon
- Pool Party 3/8" Shimmer Ribbon
- Sweet Sugarplum 3/8" Striped Grosgrain Ribbon
Fold each piece of ribbon in half lengthwise. Cut at a sharp angle towards the fold in the ribbon using Snips. This should give you a notch in the end of the ribbons.
Cut the smooth end of each piece of ribbon so each piece is about 1-1/4" long.
Wrap one piece of ribbon around the Linen Thread near the top left so about 1/4" of ribbon with the smooth edge is under the thread. Put a Mini Glue Dot on the top of the 1/4" piece of ribbon and fold the other side of the ribbon with the notch down onto it. Repeat this step with each piece of ribbon spacing them out on the Linen Thread and alternating ribbons. If desired, you can put another Mini Glue Dot on the back of each ribbon banner to adhere it in place along the thread.
Cut a 4" piece of Linen Thread.
Use a Mini Glue Dot to adhere one end of the thread between two ribbon banners on the right side just above the thread.
Peel the protective backing off one side of a Soft Sky Balloon Honeycomb Embellishment. Adhere the balloon embellishment to the card front so it overlaps the end of the Linen Thread. Don't forget to remove the protective backing from the other side.
Tip: If you are worried about the honeycomb embellishment getting smashed in the mail, then adhere only one side to your card front. Add a little note to the recipient letting them know to peel the protective backing off the other side and adhere it in place to complete their fun card.
Cut a 4" piece of Pool Party 3/8" Shimmer Ribbon. Tie it in a half knot. Trim the ends.
Adhere the ribbon knot to the front of the card using a Mini Glue Dot so that it also holds the loose end of the Linen Thread in place.
