B right and cheery birthday card using Brusho Crystal Colour and other Stampin' Up! products.
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock, Watercolor Paper, and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Stampin' Trimmer:
- card from Real Red Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" of strawberries and blueberries on white background design from Tutti-frutti 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper
- 2-3/4" x 4" from Watercolor Paper
- 1/2" x 4" from Night of Navy Cardstock
- 1" x 4" from Night of Navy Cardstock
- strawberry hand cut from scrap of strawberries and blueberries on white background design from Tutti-frutti 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper
Sprinkle some Prussian blue Brusho Crystal Colour on the piece of Watercolor Paper. Spritz with water from a spray bottle (an old Stampin' Mist bottle works great) to make the color run. If you want, use a tissue or paper towel to remove excess water, especially along the edges of the paper. Set aside to let dry thoroughly. You can speed up drying if you want by using the Heat Tool.
Tip: For tips on using Brusho and other methods of adding Brusho and water to Watercolor Paper for different looks, please visit my blog at http://inspirationink.typepad.com/inspiration-ink/2018/01/stylized-birthday-brusho-tutti-frutti-cards.html.
Once the Watercolor Paper is completely dry, ink up the Stylized Birthday stamp with the Night of Navy Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the Watercolor Paper.
Unlock the Decorative Ribbon Border Punch. Slide one long side of the 1" x 4" strip of Night of Navy Cardstock into the punch so it butts up against the guide at the back of the punch. Punch. Slide the punched cardstock over a little bit and line up the punched area with the silver design printed on the base of the punch. Punch again. Repeat until the entire length has been punched.
Tip: I sometimes find it easier to line things up with this punch if I turn the punch over so I can see the punching area. I then line up the punched areas with the designs of the punch before punching again.
Adhere the punched strip behind the Watercolor Paper so just the very edge of the scallops shows along the bottom of the Watercolor Paper.
Adhere the 1/2" x 4" strip of Night of Navy Cardstock to the back of the Watercolor Paper so just about 1/8" shows along the top.
Adhere the matted Watercolor Paper to the large piece of Tutti-frutti Designer Series Paper so it is about 1/2" from the top.
Adhere to designer paper to the front of the Real Red card.
Use Paper Snips to cut out one of the small strawberries from the scrap of designer series paper if you haven't already done so.
Use a Mini Stampin' Dimensional to adhere the cut out strawberry to the card front so it is at a slight angle at the end of the "y" in the word "birthday."
Carefully remove 3 Pool Party sequins from a sheet of Tutti-frutti Adhesive-Backed Sequins making sure you get the adhesive as well as the sequin. Adhere them randomly to the card front around the stamped sentiment on the Watercolor Paper.
Use different pieces of Tutti-frutti 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper with coordinating colors of Brusho, ink, cardstock, and sequins to make slightly different cards. Use the Itty Bitty Fruit Punch Pack punches to punch out some of the fruits or cut them out by hand using Paper Snips or use knot bows of coordinating ribbon as embellishments at the end of the "y" in "birthday."
