Project Recipe
Cut cardstock pieces to the following sizes:
- Night Of Navy Cardstock: cut 1 @ 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4"; cut 1 @ 4 1/4" x 5 1/2".
- Basic White Cardstock: cut 1 @ 3 3/4" x 3 3/4"; cut 1 @ 2 1/4" x 2 3/4"; cut 1 @ 1 1/2" X 2 1/4".
- Daffodil Delight Cardstock: cut 1 @ 1 1/4" x 1 3/4" (scrap for stars).
Pick out the large rectangle with a notch on one side and a tiny hole in the centre of the die from the Give It A Whirl Dies. Put it on top of the Night Of Navy rectangle piece and run it through the Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine.
Pick out the fan shape die with a tiny hole at the bottom from the Give It a Whirl Dies. Put it on top of the die cut Night Of Navy rectangle so the hole in the die lines up with the hole in the cardstock and the fan shape is off to the left side a bit. Run through the Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine.
Pick out the large, scalloped edge circle with a tiny hole in the centre from the Give It a Whirl Dies. Put it on top of the large Basic White square. Run through the Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine.
WITHOUT ADHERING, lay the die cut Night Of Navy rectangle on the white scalloped circle cut out so the holes in the line up and a bit of the edge of the scalloped circle shows in the notch on the upper right side of the Night Of Navy rectangle cut out.
Mount the "Celebrating You Is A Blast" sentiment from the Stellar Birthday Set. Ink up only the words "celebrating you" using the side of the brush tip of the Night Of Navy Marker. Breathe on the stamp to moisten the ink and then stamp the words onto the white circle through the fan shaped cut out in the Night Of Navy rectangle. Stamp as close to the top of the fan shaped cut out as you can. Clean the stamp but leave the stamp on the block.
Ink up only the words "is a blast" on the sentiment on the block using the side of the brush tip of the Night Of Navy Marker. Breathe on the stamp to moisten the ink and then stamp the words onto the white circle through the fan shaped cut out in the Night Of Navy rectangle. Stamp as close to the previously stamped sentiment as you can so the words are centred just below the previously stamped sentiment.
Rotate the white scalloped circle die under the Night Of Navy rectangle cut out so a clean area shows through the fan shaped cut out. Make sure the holes in both pieces still line up. Mount the "Planet" stamp from the Stellar Birthday Set on a block. Ink it up using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. Stamp the Planets through the fan shaped cut out in the Night Of Navy rectangle.
Rotate the white scalloped circle die under the Night Of Navy rectangle cut out so a clean area shows through the fan shaped cut out. Make sure the holes in both pieces still line up. Mount the "Puppy" stamp from the Stellar Birthday Set on a block. Ink it up using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. Stamp the Puppy through the fan shaped cut out in the Night Of Navy rectangle.
Set the stamped white circle cut out aside for now.
Place the Night Of Navy rectangle cut out on some Grid Paper to protect your work surface.
Rub a sponge across the open, inked up white Craft Ink Pad to get it inky. Lightly rub the inky sponge over the entire Night Of Navy rectangle cut out piece. Get more ink on the sponge as needed. Let the color go off the edge of the cardstock.
Squeeze the Wink of Stella Glitter Brush to get lots of ink on the brush tip. Hold the brush tip horizontally over the Night Of Navy rectangle cut out and tap the brush sharply to make dots of glittery ink splatter onto the cardstock. Repeat until you have the coverage you want. Set the cardstock aside to allow to dry.
Tip: The closer you hold the brush to the cardstock the larger the spatters will be.
Mount the girl or boy astronaut image from the Stellar Birthday Set on a block. Ink it up with the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad. Stamp it on the centre of the larger white rectangle.
Mount the rocket image from the Stellar Birthday Set on a block. Ink it up with the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad. Stamp it in the centre of the smaller white rectangle.
Put the stamped astronaut and the rocket images on some Grid Paper to protect your work surface. You need to make sure that you protect your work surface with paper as Stampin' Blends Markers do bleed through.
Use the Ivory blend to color the astronaut's face.
Use the Bronze blend to color in the astronaut's hair and eye balls.
If you stamped the boy astronaut, use the Light Real Red blend to color his tongue.
Use the Light and Dark Real Red blends to color in the astronaut's gloves and boot soles.
Use the Light and Dark Daffodil Delight blends to color in the astronaut's belt buckles, star patch and fittings on the side of the helmet.
Use the Light and Dark Night Of Navy blends to color in the astronaut's belt, boots, and helmet collar.
Use the Color Lifter Stampin' Blends as needed to remove excess color.
Use the Light and Dark Real Red blends to color in the rocket's fins and stripes.
Use the Light and Dark Daffodil Delight blends to color in the circle around the port hole and the flames.
Use the Light and Dark Night Of Navy blends to color the rest of the rocket.
Leave the port hole white for now.
Use the Light Real Red blend to add some red to the centre of the flames.
Use the Wink of Stella Glitter Brush to paint shimmer onto the port hole of the rocket.
Use Paper Snips to cut out the colored astronaut and the rocket images by hand.
Take your scalloped wheel and use Gray Granite blends to color the puppy's boots.
Use Crumb Cake blends to color the puppy and the bone.
Use Night Of Navy blends to color the puppy's collar.
Use Pumpkin Pies blends to color Saturn, use the Soft Suede blends to color the ring on Saturn.
Use Soft Suede blends to color the medium planet.
Use Balmy Blue blends to color the smallest planet.
Pick out a large, square brad of either color from the Round & Square Brads.
Lay the blended and splattered Night Of Navy rectangle cut out on top of the stamped white scalloped circle cut out so the holes line up. Insert the prongs of the brad through the holes and flatten them on the back side of the rectangle/circle cut outs.
Put Stampin' Dimensionals all over the back of the layered rectangle cut out making sure that none are too close to the scalloped circle cut out. Remove the protective backings and put another Stampin' Dimensional on top of each dimensional already in place. Remove the protective backings and adhere the layered rectangle/circle cut outs to the front of the Night Of Navy card. Give the spinner wheel a turn to make sure it spins smoothly.
Pick out one of the sets of three small stars dies from the Give It A Whirl Dies. Put it on top of the Daffodil Delight rectangle. Run through the Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine.
Put a Mini Glue Dot on the head of the brad on the card front. Adhere the large star cut out to the brad.
Use a Mini Glue Dot to adhere the small star cut out to the front of the card in the upper left corner of the Night Of Navy rectangle cut out.
Use a Mini Stampin' Dimensional to adhere the medium star cut out to the front of the card in the lower left corner of the Night Of Navy rectangle cut out.
Cut a 4 1/2" piece of the silver trim from the Simply Elegant Trim.
Use a Stampin' Dimensional to adhere one end of the silver trim to the back of the rocket ship cut out near the centre so the trim will hang down below the rocket.
Use more Dimensionals to adhere the rocket ship cut out to the front of the card so it just overlaps the top right corner of the fan shaped cut out in the Night Of Navy rectangle cut out. Make sure NO adhesive gets onto the white scalloped circle or the spinner will not spin!
Use a Stampin' Dimensional to adhere the other end of the silver trim to the back of the astronaut cut out so it goes in near the upper shoulder of the astronaut.
Use more Dimensionals to adhere the astronaut cut out to the front of the card near the centre but just below the large star attached to the brad. Make sure to leave some slack in the silver trim.
Make the silver trim loop between the rocket and the astronaut closer to the astronaut. Use a Mini Glue Dot to hold the loop in place.
