S oft and pretty holiday card using Stampin' Up! products.
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock, glimmer paper, and adhesive sheets pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Balmy Blue Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Shimmery White Cardstock
- 2-1/4" square from Balmy Blue Glimmer Paper
- 2-1/8" square from Adhesive Sheets
Put the shimmery white rectangle vertically on top of a piece of Grid Paper to protect your work surface.
Unscrew the large flat brush tip Water Painter and fill the barrel with water before screwing the tip back in place.
Tip: The Water Painters unscrew in the opposite direction of what you'd expect.
Squeeze the lid of the Balmy Blue Ink Pad to get a pool of ink in the lid. Open the pad but leave the lid exposed. Gently squeeze the Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush to get some drops of glittery liquid in the lid. Stir the ink and liquid together with the brush tip. Pick up some watery ink from the lid using the brush tip. Swish the watery ink across the shimmery white cardstock a few times. Get more watery ink on the brush tip as needed. Swipe the brush tip across some Grid Paper several times to remove the color.
Leave the lid of the open Balmy Blue Ink Pad exposed. Gently squeeze the flat brush tip Water Painter to get some drops of water in the lid. Stir the ink and water together with the brush tip. Pick up some watery ink from the lid using the brush tip. Swish the watery ink across the shimmery white cardstock until you get the color coverage you want. Get more watery ink on the brush tip as needed. Swipe the brush tip across some Grid Paper several times to remove the color. Set the cardstock aside to let it dry.
I recommend you use a clean tissue, paper towel, or baby wipe to clean up excess watery ink in the lid of the Balmy Blue Ink Pad before you close it to make sure that glitter doesn't get onto the ink pad.
Once the watercolored shimmery white rectangle is dry, proceed with the next step.
Tip: You can speed up drying using a Heat Tool if needed.
As you are ready to stamp using the Snowflake Wishes Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp. Put a piece of paper (Grid Paper works great) on top of the Mat to protect it from ink.
Mount the sentiment of choice from the Snowflake Wishes Set on an appropriate size block. Ink up the sentiment with the Balmy Blue Ink Pad. Stamp it in the lower right corner of the watercolored shimmery white rectangle.
Mount the grouping of larger snowflakes image from the Snowflake Wishes Set on an Block C. Ink it up with the Balmy Blue Ink Pad. Stamp it at a slight upward angle on the left side of the watercolored shimmery white rectangle so some of the image goes off the left side of the cardstock and the top of the image is about 1-1/2" from the top edge. Re-ink the stamp with the Balmy Blue Ink Pad and stamp it again along the same angle so the right side of the image is about 1/4" from the right edge and the top of the image is about 1/2" from the top edge..
Insert the stamped, watercolored shimmery white rectangle into the Winter Snow Embossing Folder. Place the folder with the paper inside on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine platform and run through the machine.
Adhere the dry embossed, watercolored, and stamped shimmery white rectangle to the front of the Balmy Blue card.
Peel the protective backing off of the Adhesive Sheets square. Adhere the Adhesive Sheets square to the non-glittery, white side of the Balmy Blue Glimmer Paper square. Be sure to leave the other protective backing in place for now.
Pick out the medium-sized, more detailed snowflake die from the So Many Snowflakes Dies. Put it on top of the Glimmer Paper square on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so the glittery, Balmy Blue side is facing up. Run through the tool. Use the Take Your Pick Die Brush Tip and Take Your Pick to remove the pieces. Make sure the protective backing for the Adhesive Sheet stays in place for now.
Carefully remove the protective backing from the back of the detailed Balmy Blue Glimmer Paper snowflake cut out and adhere it to the front of the card so it overlaps the angled line of stamped snowflakes on both sides just a bit.
Use the mini spatula on the Take Your Pick to carefully peel up a large Night of Navy gem from a sheet of Blue Adhesive-Backed Gems making sure that you get the adhesive backing as well. Adhere it to the front of the card in the center of the glimmer paper snowflake cut out.
Use the mini spatula on the Take Your Pick to carefully peel up 5 Just Jade snowflakes from a sheet of Snowflake Adhesive-Backed Embellishments making sure that you get the adhesive backings as well. Adhere them randomly to the front of the card.
