F ather's Day card using Stampin' Up! products.
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Stampin' Trimmer:
- card from Old Olive Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" of tree rings design from Wood Textures 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper
- 2-7/8" x 3-3/8" from Pool Party Cardstock
- 2-3/4" x 3-1/4" from Very Vanilla Cardstock
- scrap of Very Vanilla Cardstock
Adhere the piece of Wood Textures Designer Series Paper to the front of the Old Olive card.
As you are ready to stamp using the Sheltering Tree stamps, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp. Put a piece of Grid Paper on top of the Mat to protect it from ink.
Mount the bare tree image from the Sheltering Tree Set on Block E. Ink it up with the Soft Suede Ink Pad. Stamp it on the vanilla rectangle so the trunk is just barely to the left of center and the bottom of the trunk goes off the bottom edge of the cardstock.
Mount the large grouping of leaves image from the Sheltering Tree Set on Block E. Ink it up with the Old Olive Ink Pad. Stamp it on the vanilla rectangle on top of the tree trunk image. Shift the stamp over and up slightly and stamp again without re-inking to get slightly lighter leaves and fill in even more of the space.
Mount the swing image from the Sheltering Tree Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Crumb Cake Marker. BEFORE stamping, use the brush tip of the Soft Suede Marker to color over the seat on the swing to make it darker. Breathe on the stamp to moisten the ink and stamp the image on the right side of the tree trunk so the ropes seem to be attached to the branch.
Mount the grass stems image from the Sheltering Tree Set on Block A. Ink it up with the Old Olive Ink Pad. Stamp it repeatedly across the bottom of the vanilla rectangle. Stamp some of the images without re-inking the stamp, but do re-ink the stamp every so often. Vary the angle and depth of the images slightly.
Cut a Stamping Sponge into quarters. This gives you more sponges to work with and gives you a little more control as you use the sponge.
Rub the rounded edge of a Stamping Sponge quarter across the open Pool Party Ink Pad to get it inky. Then, lightly rub it across the entire stamped vanilla rectangle. Get more ink on the sponge quarter as needed. Keep adding ink until you have the color saturation you want.
Tip: I just clean my Stamping Sponge pieces when I'm done using them by running them under water until no more color is coming off. Then, I let them air dry. They may be stained, but they are clean enough to use with any color of ink in the future.
Adhere the stamped and inked vanilla rectangle to the Pool Party rectangle.
Adhere the matted image to the front of the card so it is slightly right of center and about 1" from the top edge.
Mount the "World's Best Father" sentiment from the Itty Bitty Greetings Set on Block G. Place the mounted stamp on your work surface with the rubber facing up. Use the brush tip of the Soft Suede Marker to make a little mark on the block itself (not on the stamp) between the word "World's" and the word "Best."
Carefully ink up only the words "Best Father" by pressing the sentiment to the edge of the open Old Olive Ink Pad. Use the mark you made on the block to help you figure out how far onto the pad to place the stamp to ink up only the words you want. Stamp the sentiment on the scrap of vanilla cardstock. Clean the stamp using the Simply Shammy and leave it on the block.
Place the mounted stamp on your work surface again with the rubber facing up. Use the brush tip of the Soft Suede Marker again to make a little mark on the block itself (not on the stamp) between the word "World's" and the word "Best."
Carefully ink up only the word "World's" by pressing the sentiment to the edge of the open Old Olive Ink Pad. Use the mark you made on the block to help you figure out how far onto the pad to place the stamp to ink up only the words you want. Stamp the sentiment on the scrap of vanilla cardstock so it is centered over the words "Best Father." Use the mark you made on the block to help you figure out where to stamp the word.
Carefully cut out the words using Paper Snips so you have a tiny rectangle.
Put some Tear & Tape Adhesive on the back of the sentiment rectangle. Remove the protective backing. Adhere the sentiment rectangle to a small piece of 5/8" Burlap Ribbon so it is centered up and down. Use the Paper Snips to trim the ends of the ribbon so it is equal on either side of the sentiment rectangle.
Put some Tear & Tape Adhesive on the back of the ribbon where it is covered by the sentiment rectangle. Remove the protective backing. Adhere the ribbon matted sentiment to the front of the card so it overlaps the upper left corner of the main image a bit.
Pick out a heart shaped element from the Corrugated Elements. Adhere the heart shape at a slight angle to the card front in the lower right corner of the main image using Mini Glue Dots.
