P layful, summery card using Stampin' Up! products.
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Stampin' Trimmer:
- card from Real Red Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Night of Navy Cardstock
- 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" from Whisper White Cardstock
- 2-1/4" x 4" of wood grain design from Wood Textures Designer Series Paper Stack
- 2 pieces each 1-3/4" x 2" from Whisper White Thick Cardstock
- 1-1/2" x 2" from Whisper White Cardstock
Use the ruler to make a few marks on the large rectangle of Whisper White Cardstock with one of the Watercolor Pencils at:
- 1-1/8" up from the bottom in the center
- 1" in from the left side in the center
- 1-1/8" in from the right side in the center
- 1-3/4" down from the top in the center
Scribble in the rectangle formed by the marks using the Real Red, Melon Mambo, and Old Olive Watercolor Pencils. Let the colors overlap a bit. Use a Blender Pen to blend the scribbles together.
Mount the ladybug image from the Sharing Sweet Thoughts Set on Block A. Ink it up with the Basic Gray Archival Ink Pad. Stamp it flat on the right side of the white rectangle about 3/8" inch from the right edge and 5/8" from the bottom edge.
Re-ink the ladybug image with the Basic Gray Ink Pad and stamp it again onto the white rectangle so it looks like it is crawling upwards about 1" in from the right side and about 1-5/8" up from the bottom.
Re-ink the ladybug image one more time with the Basic Gray Ink Pad and stamp it on the white rectangle so it is flat again and about 2-3/8" up from the bottom and 1-3/8" in from the right side.
Use the brush tip of the Real Red Marker to color in the ladybug bodies.
Pick out the half crate framelit from the Wood Crate Framelits. Place the piece of Wood Textures Designer Series Paper on the Cutting Pad on top of the Platform on the Big Shot. Place the half crate framelit on top so you are cutting out the bottom right side of the half crate with the three lines. Place another Cutting Pad on top and run through the Big Shot. Use the Die Brush to remove pieces of paper if needed.
Fold on all three score lines and trim off excess designer paper as needed. Be sure to leave flaps so you can adhere the crate half to the front of the card.
Put Tear & Tape Adhesive on the underside of the flaps on the three sides of the half crate. Remove the protective backings and adhere the crate to the white rectangle so it is centered over the Watecolor Pencil scribbled rectangle and two of the ladybugs look like they are climbing up the side and along the top of the crate.
Adhere the white rectangle to the Night of Navy rectangle.
Cut a 6" piece of Night of Navy 1/2" Gingham Ribbon. Lay the ribbon across the bottom of the white rectangle so it is just below the bottom of the crate and the bottom ladybug. Flip the cardstock over and fold the ends of the ribbon over. Adhere them in place with pieces of Tear & Tape Adhesive across the ends.
Remove the protective backing from the Tear & Tape strips and add more SNAIL to the back of cardstock. Adhere the cardstock to the front of the Real Red card.
Mount the bunch of strawberries image from the Sharing Sweet Thoughts Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Basic Gray Archival Ink Pad and stamp it on the two pieces of Whisper White Thick Cardstock. Remember to re-ink the stamp before stamping the second image.
Tip: I like to use the Thick Cardstock for watercoloring because it holds up better.
Use the Calypso Coral, Melon Mambo, and Real Red Watercolor Pencils to scribble some of each color on each strawberry.
Use a Blender Pen to blend and move the color around. Remember to stroke the tip of the Blender Pen in one direction only. If you go back and forth, then the card stock could start to pill and tear. Make some areas darker for a shading effect. You can add more color with the Watercolor Pencils as you work if you wish. When you are done coloring, scribble the tip of the Blender Pen back and forth on scratch paper until no more color is coming off.
Use the Old Olive Watercolor Pencil and Blender Pen in the same way to color in all the strawberry leaves and stems.
Carefully cut out the bunches of strawberries by hand using Paper Snips.
Adhere the bunches of strawberries to the card front so they are tucked into the left side of the crate along the top. Let them overlap a bit.
Mount the "full of love for you" sentiment from the Sharing Sweet Thoughts Set on Block C. Carefully ink up only the words "for you" using the brush tip of the Real Red Marker. Breathe on the stamp to moisten the ink and stamp the "for you" in the center of the small piece of white cardstock.
Pick out the tag framelit from the Wood Crate Framelits. Place the stamped sentiment on the Cutting Pad on top of the Magnetic Platform on the Big Shot. Place the tag framelit on top so it is centered over the sentiment. Place another Cutting Pad on top and run through the Big Shot.
Adhere the tag at an angle to the upper left corner of the crate on the card front.
Cut a 4" piece of Night of Navy 1/2" Gingham Ribbon. Tie a half knot in the center. Trim the ends. Adhere the ribbon to the top of the tag on the card front using a Mini Glue Dot.
