F un, easy Christmas tags that are fun to color in using Stampin' Up! products.
Project Recipe
For each tag, cut cardstock and Chicken Wire Elements pieces to the following sizes using a Stampin' Trimmer and Paper Snips:
- 3-1/4" square from Old Olive or Real Red Cardstock
- 3-1/4" square from Whisper White Cardstock
- 1-1/2" x 3" from Old Olive Cardstock
- piece of Chicken Wire Elements 2-1/2 rows wide and 8 rows long
Using the Seasonal Chums Set, mount the front of the deer or snowman image on Block D or the double deer or double snowman image on Block I.
Tip: If you are comfortable doing so, you can carefully cut the stamps apart across the center where the two halves meet. This will make it easier to mount only the half that you want to ink up and stamp on Block D.
If you don't like cutting your stamps apart, then mount the double image on Block I.
Ink up the front of the deer or snowman image using the Memento Pad. Stamp the deer image on the right side of the white square fairly close to the top edge. Stamp the snowman image on the left side of the white square fairly close to the top edge.
Tip: If you did not cut the stamp images apart and have mounted the double image on Block I. Then, put a small piece of Scotch (cello) tape on the top of the back side image to protect it from stray ink. Ink up the front side image and then remove the tape before stamping.
Pick out the square framelit from the Layering Squares Framelits that cuts out a 2-3/8" square. Place the stamped white square on the Cutting Pad on top of the Magnetic Platform on the Big Shot. Place the square framelit on top so the deer is on the right and as close to the top of the square as possible or the snowman is on the left and as close to the top of the square as possible. Place another Cutting Pad on top and run through the Big Shot.
Mount the "To: From:" sentiment from the Seasonal Chums Set on Block A. Ink it up with the Memento Pad and stamp it to the side of the deer or snowman image near the top of the square.
Place the image square cut out on top of some paper on your work surface (Grid Paper works great). You need to make sure that you protect your work surface with paper as the Stampin' Blends Markers do bleed through.
Start coloring with the Stampin' Blends Markers. The markers have a brush tip for coloring in larger areas and a fine tip for coloring in smaller areas.
Use the Light Soft Suede Marker to color in the deer's antlers, spots, and hooves.
Use the Light and Dark Crumb Cake Markers to color in the rest of the deer.
Use the Dark Real Red Marker to color in the deer's nose.
Use the Light and Dark Real Red Markers to color in the deer's bow.
Leave the bell on the deer's bow uncolored for now.
Use the Light Soft Suede Marker to color in the bunny rabbit hugging the snowman.
Use the Light and Dark Crumb Cake Markers to color in the snowman's hat
Use the Light Pumpkin Pie Marker to color in the snowman's carrot nose.
Use the Light and Dark Old Olive and Light and Dark Real Red Markers to color in the snowman's mittens, scarf, and hat trims.
Use the Color Lifter Marker as needed to remove any excess ink.
Shake the bottle of Vegas Gold Shimmer Paint while the lid is on tight. Remove the lid and place it on some Grid Paper on your work surface open end up. Poke the tip of a Blender Pen down into the lid to pick up some of the shimmer paint. Paint the shimmer paint onto bell on the deer's bow. Get more shimmer paint on the dauber as needed. Put the lid back on the bottle and shake again if necessary.
Tip: Stroke the Blender Pen in one direction only. If you go back and forth, then the cardstock could start to pill and tear. Scribble on Grid Paper to clean the tip of the Blender Pen until no more color is coming off.
If you haven't already done so, use the Paper Snips to trim out the piece of Chicken Wire Elements. You want one long edge to have the little loops sticking up.
Put a thin line of SNAIL across the bottom of the stamped and colored square.
Adhere the cut piece of Chicken Wire Elements to the line of adhesive so the little loops stick up and cover the bottom of the snowman or deer image.
Use Paper Snips to trim off excess Chicken Wire Elements on the bottom and sides of the white square.
Use your fingers to tear one long side of the strip of Old Olive Cardstock.
Adhere the torn piece of Old Olive Cardstock to the bottom of the white square so it covers the adhesive holding the Chicken Wire Elements piece in place.
Use Paper Snips to trim off excess cardstock along the bottom and sides of the white square.
Pick out the scalloped square framelit from the Layering Squares Framelits that cuts out a 2-3/4" scalloped square. Place the Old Olive or Real Red square on the Cutting Pad on top of the Platform on the Big Shot. Place the scalloped square framelit on top. Place another Cutting Pad on top and run through the Big Shot.
Adhere the white square to the center of the scalloped square.
Use the 1/8" Handheld Circle Punch to punch a hole in an upper corner of the matted squares.
Cut a 6" piece of Old Olive 1/8" Sheer Ribbon or Real Red 1/8" Solid Ribbon.
Slide one end of the ribbon through the hole in the tag. Holding both ends of the ribbon together, tie a half knot in the ends. Trim the ends.
Use the mini spatula on the Take Your Pick to carefully peel up a rhinestone from a sheet of Red Rhinestone Basic Jewels making sure that you get the adhesive backing as well. Adhere it to the deer's nose.
