D azzling Queen Bee card made using the Tarnished Foil Technique.
Project Recipe
Cut your base from basic black cardstock to 11X4 1/4 inches. Then score at 5 1/2 inches, fold the card in half, and burnish the end with a bone folder.
Adhere whisper white 5 1/4x4 inch card stock to the inside of the card.
Take your piece of brushed metallic specialty cardstock and apply jet black (or Saddle Brown) staz-on to create streaks on the surface. Do this by holding down the cardstock with sticky note tape to avoid getting fingerprints on the surface.
Dry on the low setting with a heat tool and then Pat the surface with an embossing buddy anti-static pouch. The Staz-on is a sticky ink that will take a while to dry. Tip: If you skip this step the staz-on will get onto your embossing folder in the next step.
Once your piece is dry, then dry emboss with the 3D hive 3-D embossing folder. Pay attention to the prominent shapes, do you want the oxygons to be in or sticking out?
Now, rub versa-mark pad over select areas and edges of the dry embossed piece.
Pour metallic embossing powder over the surface and heat emboss.
Tip: Before adding the embossing powder, rub the edges of the versa mark so you soften hard lines and remove from areas you don't want to be covered. The goal is to create a balance and distribution of the colors.
This is where you have an option. You can leave it and move to step 8, or you can make your piece look more grungy by repeating step 6 again using a different colored embossing powder.
Rub jet black staz-on on the edges and sparingly over the surface to add a tarnished look. You could also rub saddle brown Staz-on over the surface to add more touches of bright yellow.
Once your piece is dry, adhere it to the front of your card base using Stampin' Seal +. I tried using regular stamp & seal and my edges pulled up with this heavier cardstock. Be sure to go around the edges well with the Stampin' Seal+.
Now take one of your basic black 3x4 inch pieces of cardstock and punch your label using the label me lovely punch. Then use versa-mark to stamp your sentiment. Now choose the metallic embossing powder you wish to use and sprinkle the powder over the sentiment, and then heat emboss the sentiment.
Now take the other piece of 3x4 inch basic black cardstock and using versa-mark stamp your bee image and then sprinkle embossing powder over the image, dump off the excess. Now heat emboss the image.
Now using your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine, use the bee die and cut out your bee image. Use sticky note tape to hold the die in place while going through the machine.
Now, use Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the queen label to the base of your card. Then use a few more Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere your bee, overlapping the tag a little bit.
TIP: Think about how you want to place those dimensionals on the bee so you don't pop it on the tag portion, just let it rest there. Then you are finished.
