Timeless Tropical Framed Palms |
P retty card perfect for retirement using Stampin' Up! products.
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Soft Succulent Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Cajun Craze Cardstock
- 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" of multicolored tropical leaves on white background from In The Wild 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper
- 3-1/2" x 4-3/4" of light colored woodgrain design from In Good Taste 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper, cut so the woodgrain is horizontal on the horizontal rectangle
- 3-1/2" x 4-3/4" from Very Vanilla Cardstock
- 1" x 2" pieces of Crumb Cake, Cajun Craze, and Evening Evergreen Cardstock
Adhere the piece of In The Wild Designer Paper to the center of the large rectangle of Cajun Craze Cardstock and then to the front of the Soft Succulent card.
Pick out the stitched rectangle dies that cut out rectangles that are 2-1/4" x 3-5/8" and 3" x 4-3/8" from the Stitched Rectangles Dies. Put them on top of the In Good Taste Designer Paper rectangle on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so the smaller rectangle is centered inside the larger rectangle. Run through the machine.
Tip: You are using the frame cut out of the designer paper for this project. Throw away the outside edge and keep the solid center rectangle to use on another project.
Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Fine-Tip Glue Pen to adhere the woodgrain designer paper frame to the front of the card at a slight angle so it is in the center. The left side of the frame should be a bit higher than the right side.
Mount the set of two palm trees image from the Timeless Tropical Set on Block D (they will fit at an angle). Ink the image up using the Cajun Craze Ink Pad. Stamp it near the left and bottom sides of the horizontal vanilla rectangle.
Pick out the stitched rectangle die that cuts out a rectangle that is 2-5/8" x 4" from the Stitched Rectangles Dies. Put it on top of the stamped vanilla rectangle on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so the tops of the palm trees almost touche the top of the rectangle and the left edge of the left palm tree is about 1/4" from the left edge of the rectangle. Run through the machine.
Note: You will cut off the bottom of the trunks of the palm trees.
Lay the palm tree rectangle cut out on some Grid Paper to protect your work surface.
Rub a Blending Brush across the open Crumb Cake Ink Pad to get it inky. Lightly rub the inky Blending Brush over the bottom edge of the palm tree stamped vanilla rectangle to about 1/2" from the bottom. Get more ink on the Blending Brush as needed.
Tip: I just clean my Blending Brushes when I'm done using them by running them under water until no more color is coming off. Then, I let them air dry. They may be stained, but they are clean enough to use with any color of ink in the future
Rub a different Blending Brush across the open Soft Succulent Ink Pad to get it inky. Lightly rub the inky Blending Brush over the tops of the palm trees on the vanilla rectangle as shown. Get more ink on the Blending Brush as needed.

Mount the birthday, "rest & relax," thank you, or hello sentiment from the Timeless Tropical Set on an appropriate size block. Ink it up with the Evening Evergreen Ink Pad. Stamp it in the lower right corner of the stamped and blended vanilla rectangle so it overlaps the top of the blended Crumb Cake line and is just to the right of the palm tree trunks.
Adhere the stamped and blended palm trees rectangle cut out to the front of the card at the opposite angle of the woodgrain frame cut out so it is centered over the hole in the woodgrain frame cut out.
Pick out the palm frond die from the In The Tropics Dies. Put it on top of the small Crumb Cake rectangle on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Run through the machine. Use the paper-piercing tool on the Take Your Pick to remove the pieces if needed. Leave the die out.
One at a time, put the palm frond die on top of the small Evening Evergreen and Cajun Craze rectangles on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Run through the machine. Use the paper-piercing tool on the Take Your Pick to remove the pieces if needed. You should now have three different colored palm frond cut outs.
Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Fine-Tip Glue Pen to adhere the palm frond cut outs to the upper right corner of the vanilla rectangle cut out so they overlap each other a bit as shown.
Cut a 16" piece of the Crumb Cake Baker's Twine from the Baker's Twine Essentials Pack.
Fold the twine in half. Tie a small bow in the center of the folded twine. Trim the ends.
Use a Mini Glue Dot to adhere the twine bow to the front of the card at the top of the overlapped palm frond cut outs.
