Spring Corners Stenciled Flowers Birthday |
L ovely spring birthday card using Stampin' Up! products.
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Fresh Freesia Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" of bokeh dotted dark purple/pink design from Beautiful Bokeh 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper
- 3-1/8" x 3-5/8" from Lost Lagoon Cardstock
- 3 pieces each 3" x 3-1/2" from Basic White Cardstock
Pick out one of the small, corner flower and leaves dies and the large group of cone flowers with leaves die from the Spring Corners Dies. Put them on top of one of the vertical white rectangles on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so they are centered in the lower left and upper right corners as close to the edges as possible as shown. Run through the machine. Use the paper-piercing tool on the Take Your Pick to remove all the pieces and pop up the pop up petals. Put the dies on another one of the vertical white rectangles in the same way and run through the machine as well.
Note: The small corner flower and leaves die will cut the leaf lines into the cardstock and will cut the flower in the center so the petals pop up but do NOT come out completely.
As you are ready to stamp using the Spring Corners Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp.
Mount the "happy birthday" sentiment from the Spring Corners Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Lost Lagoon Ink Pad. Stamp the sentiment as shown on one of the flower cut white rectangles.
Use the fine tip of the Light Fresh Freesia Stampin' Blends to carefully color in the pop up petals of the small flower cut into the upper right corner of the same white rectangle.
Set the stamped and colored white rectangle aside for now. You will use it again later.
Put tiny dots of Stampin' Seal in a couple of places on the BACK of the other white rectangle with flowers and leaves cut into it. Lightly adhere this rectangle over the top of the remaining white rectangle so all the edges are even. You are using the top rectangle with the die cuts as a stencil.
Put the layered rectangle on some Grid Paper on your work surface to protect it since the Stampin' Blends do bleed through.
Use the Light and Dark Berry Burst Stampin' Blends to color the cones in the centers of the cone flowers through the stencil.
Use the Light and Dark Fresh Freesia Stampin' Blends to color the petals of the cone flowers through the stencil.
Use the Light and Dark Lost Lagoon Stampin' Blends to color the leaves of all the flowers through the stencil.
Carefully remove the stencil rectangle. Set it aside to use on another card in the future.
WITHOUT ADHERING, place the previously stamped and colored other flower die cut rectangle over the top of the white rectangle with the flower colors stenciled on to it. If any of the images don't match up, add extra color to the bottom layer as needed with the Stampin' Blends.
Note: I did find it easier to just make the leaves a solid block of color in the right areas on the bottom layer.
When you've got the colors on the bottom layer where you want them, adhere the top layer in place. Use Paper Snips Scissors if needed to cut off excess lower layer cardstock peeking out from behind the top layer.
Adhere the layered white rectangles to the center of the Lost Lagoon rectangle.
Adhere the matted flower rectangles to the top of the vertical Beautiful Bokeh Designer Paper rectangle so it is centered side to side and is about 1/2" from the top.
Cut a 4-3/4" piece of the Fresh Freesia 3/8" Seam Binding Ribbon.
Lay the ribbon across the designer paper/cardstock rectangle so it hides the seam between the two pieces along the bottom. Fold the ends of the ribbon over and secure the ribbon in place on the back with strips of Tear & Tape Adhesive.
Remove the protective backings from the Tear & Tape pieces and add Stampin' Seal to the back of the designer paper rectangle. Adhere to the front of the Fresh Freesia card.
Cut a 4" piece of the Fresh Freesia 3/8" Seam Binding Ribbon.
Slide one end of the ribbon under the ribbon already on the card front. Tie in place with a half knot so it is centered over the bottom left corner of the matted white rectangle. Trim the ends.
Use the mini spatula on the Take Your Pick to carefully peel up 1 small Berry Burst sequin from a sheet of Purple Adhesive-Backed Sequins making sure that you get the adhesive backing as well. Adhere it to the center of the flower in the upper right corner as shown.
