Silhouette Scenes Dreaming Swing |
P retty card perfect for congratulations using an emboss resist technique, watercoloring, and Stampin' Up! products.
Cut cardstock, designer paper, and Adhesive Sheets pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Pool Party Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Just Jade Cardstock
- 3-1/2" x 4-1/2" from Whisper White Thick Cardstock
- 3-1/2" square of green leaf stalks on green background design from Flowers For Every Season 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper
- 3-3/8" square of Adhesive Sheets
Mount the girl on a swing image from the Silhouette Scenes Set on Block D. Ink it up with the VersaMark Pad. Stamp on the left side of the Whisper White Thick Cardstock so the left edge of the image is about 1/4" from the edge of the cardstock and the bottom of the image is about 3/4" from the bottom edge of the cardstock.
Lay the stamped cardstock on top of some Grid Paper in the center. Sprinkle on some White Stampin' Emboss Powder so it covers the stamped image. Tap off excess powder. Return the excess powder to the container to use again later.
Heat the powder with the Heat Tool until it is completely melted (shiny and smooth).
Tip: Use a clothespin to hold the cardstock while using the Heat Tool to avoid burning your fingers.
Unscrew the Water Painter with the large flat brush tip. Fill the barrel with water and screw the tip back in place.
Tip: The Water Painters unscrew in the opposite direction of what you'd expect.
Place the piece of stamped and heat embossed thick white cardstock on some Grid Paper to help protect your work surface.
Squeeze the lid of the Misty Moonlight Ink Pad to get a pool of ink in the lid. Open the pad but leave the lid exposed. Gently squeeze the Water Painter to get some drops of water in the lid. Stir the ink and water together with the brush tip. Pick up some watery ink from the lid using the brush tip. Swish the inky water across the top 2/3 of the heat embossed thick white cardstock until you have the color coverage you want. Get more watery ink on the brush tip as needed. Swipe the brush tip across some Grid Paper several times to remove most of the color.

Get more watery ink on the brush tip as needed. Swipe the brush tip across some Grid Paper several times to remove the color.
Use a clean tissue or paper towel to blot off excess watery ink especially over the heat embossed image.
Set the watercolor washed, heat embossed thick white cardstock to the side to dry.
Insert the Just Jade rectangle into the Ornate Floral 3D Embossing Folder. Use the line drawn on the front flap of the folder to help you line the cardstock up straight. Place the folder with the paper inside on your die cutting and embossing tool and run through the machine.
Peel the protective backing off of the Adhesive Sheets square. Adhere the Adhesive Sheets square to the back of the Flowers For Every Season Designer Paper square. Be sure to leave the other protective backing in place for now.
Pick out the large, detailed tree branch die from the Sweet Silhouettes Dies. Put it on top of the designer paper square on a platform on your cutting and embossing tool so the leafy green side is facing up and you'll cut out most of the tree branch. Run through the tool. Use the Take Your Pick Die Brush Tip and Take Your Pick to remove the pieces. Make sure the protective backing for the Adhesive Sheet stays in place for now.
If the heat embossed and watercolor washed white rectangle is dry, proceed with the next step.
Tip: You can speed up drying with a Heat Tool if you want.
Mount the "keep dreaming" sentiment from the Silhouette Scenes Set on Block G. Ink it up with the Misty Moonlight Ink Pad. Stamp it on the heat embossed and watercolor washed white rectangle in the lower right corner.
WITHOUT ADHERING, lay the tree branch cut out with protective backing still in place on the heat embossed and watercolor washed rectangle to get an idea of placement. The stem of the tree branch should go off the left side of the cardstock and the tops of the white, heat embossed swing ropes should be hidden by the branches and/or leaves. Trim off excess branches/leaves as needed using Paper Snips.
Carefully remove the protective backing from the back of the detailed tree branch cut out and adhere it to the top left corner of the heat embossed and watercolor washed white rectangle as determined in the step above. Trim off excess designer paper as needed using Paper Snips.
Adhere the heat embossed, watercolor washed rectangle with the tree branch attached to the front of the card so it is evenly spaced up and down and the right edge of the white rectangle is even with the right edge of the dry embossed Just Jade rectangle.
Cut a 6" piece of Pool Party 3/8" Sheer Ribbon.
Lay the ribbon across the layered cardstock pieces so the ribbon is centered over the left edge of the white cardstock. Flip the layers over and fold the ends of the ribbon over. Adhere the ends of the ribbon in place with pieces of Tear & Tape Adhesive.
Remove the protective backing from the Tear & Tape strips and add Stampin' Seal to the back of the Just Jade rectangle. Adhere it to the front of the Pool Party card.
Cut a 10" piece of the Pool Party 3/8" Sheer Ribbon.
Slide the one end of the ribbon under the ribbon on the card front near the upper left corner of the white rectangle. Tie it in place using a small bow. Trim the ends.
