Cut cardstock pieces to the following sizes using a Stampin' Trimmer:
- card from Old Olive Cardstock at 4-1/4" x 10-3/4" and scored at 3-1/2" and 7-1/8"
- 3-3/8" x 4-1/8" from Balmy Blue Cardstock
- 3" x 4" from Very Vanilla Cardstock
- 1" x 4" from Crumb Cake Cardstock
- 1-1/4" x 4" from Balmy Blue Cardstock
- scraps of Very Vanilla Cardstock
Fold the Old Olive Cardstock on all score lines and then unfold.
Pick out the square framelit from the Layering Squares Framelits that cuts out a square that is 2-7/8" wide. Place the opened card on the Cutting Pad on top of the Magnetic Platform on the Big Shot so that the panel that is 3-5/8" wide is securely on the Cutting Pad. Place the square framelit on top of the 3-5/8" wide panel so the framelit is centered in the panel. Place another Cutting Pad on top and run through the Big Shot. Keep both pieces. You will use the square you just cut out later to stamp the leaves.
Open the card up so the 3-5/8" wide panel with a square cut out of it is on the left side.
Mount the "You are wonderful" sentiment from the Rooted In Nature Set on Block H. Ink it up with the Old Olive Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the center panel about 1-1/4" from the top edge.
Mount the "Be Strong. Be Happy. Be You." sentiment from the Rooted In Nature Set on Block B. Leave the mounted stamp on your work surface rubber side up.
Rub a Sponge Dauber across the open Balmy Blue Ink Pad to get it inky. Then, daub the ink onto the stamp so you put ink all over the "Be Happy." portion of the sentiment. Get more ink on the dauber as needed. Stamp onto a scrap of Very Vanilla Cardstock. Clean the stamp thoroughly with the Stampin' Mist and Stampin' Scrub and/or the Simply Shammy, but leave it on the block.
Tip: This is the best way to ink up word images that have tiny lines inside of solid blocks so that you can easily read the words when the image is stamped.
Tip: I just clean my Sponge Daubers when I'm done using them by running them under water until no more color is coming off. Then, I let them air dry. They may be stained, but they are clean enough to use with any color of ink in the future.
Carefully cut out the stamped "Be Happy." sentiment using Paper Snips.
Use Mini Glue Dots to adhere the cut out sentiment at an angle over the upper left side of the "You are wonderful." sentiment on the center panel.
Close the right flap (3-1/2" wide without a square cut out of it) onto the center panel.
Adhere the Balmy Blue rectangle to the panel.
Place the Stamparatus in front of you with the open sides of the Stamparatus on the left and bottom. Insert one hinged plate into the Stamparatus on the right side.
Place the large Very Vanilla rectangle on the Stamparatus so it is pushed into the upper right corner as far as possible with a long side running horizontally across the top.
Pick out the large maple tree image from the Rooted In Nature Set. Place it upside down on the Very Vanilla cardstock on the Stamparatus. Close the plate on the Stamparatus and press firmly so the stamp sticks to the plate. Open the plate.
Rub a Sponge Dauber across the open Crumb Cake Ink Pad to get it inky. Then, daub the ink onto the trunk of the tree stamp on the Stamparatus and anywhere in the center of the tree image where there appears to be branches among the leaves. Get more ink on the dauber as needed. Keep adding ink until you have the color saturation you want. Close the plate onto the cardstock and press down firmly. Open the plate. If you are not happy with the coverage you got, you can close the plate again and press firmly again or re-ink the stamp and try again.
Tip: Slide a Clear-Mount Stamp Case under the plate before inking up the stamp. This gives you a firm, flat surface to push against making it easier to ink up the stamp.
Tip: I just clean my Sponge Daubers when I'm done using them by running them under water until no more color is coming off. Then, I let them air dry. They may be stained, but they are clean enough to use with any color of ink in the future.
Clean the stamp on the Stamparatus using the Simply Shammy, but be careful not to move the stamp.
Rub a Sponge Dauber across the open Old Olive Ink Pad to get it inky. Then, daub the ink onto the leaves of the tree stamp on the Stamparatus trying not to get too much ink on the branches amongst the leaves.
Tip: Don't clean this Sponge Dauber yet. You'll be using it again on a later step.
Pick out the matching tree framelit from the Nature's Roots Framelits. Place the stamped tree image on the Cutting Pad on top of the Platform on the Big Shot. Place the tree framelit on top so it is centered over the tree image. Place another Cutting Pad on top and run through the Big Shot.
Adhere the tree cut out to the Balmy Blue layer on the top of the right panel so the tree is about 1" from the top of the card.
Place the mounted "Be Strong. Be Happy. Be You." sentiment back on your work surface rubber side up.
Rub the Sponge Dauber you used earlier for the Old Olive Ink across the open Old Olive Ink Pad to get more ink on it. Then, daub the ink onto the stamp so you put ink all over the "Be Strong." and "Be You." portions of the sentiment. Get more ink on the dauber as needed. Stamp onto a scrap of Very Vanilla Cardstock. Clean the stamp and put it away.
Carefully cut out the stamped "Be Strong. and "Be You." sentiments using Paper Snips.
Use Mini Glue Dots to adhere the cut out sentiments at angles to the center of the Balmy Blue panel below the tree.
Close the left panel of the card onto the center panel so that the tree shows through the square cut into the left panel.
Unlock the Banner Triple Punch. Insert the strip of Crumb Cake Cardstock into the punch as far as it will go. Punch.
Hold the Banner Triple Punch upside down so you can see the punching area. Slide the long, thin strip of Balmy Blue Cardstock into the punch and get it lined up in the punching area so you will punch out a notch in the end that is even from side to side.
Mount the "Father's Day" sentiment from the Thoughtful Banners Set on Block G. Ink it up with the Old Olive Ink Pad. Stamp it along the bottom of the notched Crumb Cake piece so that the notch is on the left side and you are pretty close to the notch.
Mount the "Happy" sentiment from the Thoughtful Banners Set on Block G. Ink it up with the Old Olive Ink Pad. Stamp it just above the stamped "Father's Day" sentiment so it is centered.
Use Mini Glue Dots to adhere the punched Balmy Blue strip to the back of the punched and stamped Crumb Cake strip so the notches are on the left side and the Balmy Blue strip is centered in the notch of the Crumb Cake strip and shows about 3/8".
Carefully put a thin line of SNAIL (or Mini Glue Dots) across the bottom only of the punched and stamped sentiment strips. Adhere them to the front of the card so the notches are in line with the bottom of the square cut into the front of the card. Make sure not to let adhesive show through the square cut in the card front or the card won't open. Trim off excess Crumb Cake/Balmy Blue Cardstock on the right side of the card front using Paper Snips as needed.
Place the square you cut out of the left panel earlier on your work surface in front of you.
Mount the pointy, maple leaf image from the Rooted In Nature Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Old Olive Ink Pad. Stamp it in one corner of the Old Olive square. WITHOUT re-inking, stamp it again in another corner of the square. Re-ink the stamp and stamp it a third time in a third corner of the square.
Pick out the matching pointy maple leaf framelit from the Nature's Roots Framelits. Place the stamped leaf images on the Cutting Pad on top of the Platform on the Big Shot. Place the maple leaf framelit on top so it is centered over one of the leaf images. Place another Cutting Pad on top and run through the Big Shot. Repeat to cut out the other two leaves.
Use Paper Snips to cut the stems off the two lighter maple leaves.
Adhere the two lighter maple leaves to the card front so they overlap each other on the right edge of the sentiment banners. It's okay if they stick off the right edge of the card a bit. Just make sure that no adhesive shows through the square cut into the card front or the card won't open.
Use Mini Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the darker maple leaf to the card front so it overlap the other two leaves and sticks up into the square opening a bit. Just make sure that no adhesive shows through the square cut into the card front or the card won't open.
Cut an 8" piece of the Crumb Cake twine from the Nature's Twine.
Tie a small bow in the center. Trim the ends.
Use a Mini Glue Dot to adhere the bow to the stem of the darker leaf.
