Pleated Ruffle Technique |
T
his technique was shown in the Autumn 2015 issue of Card Maker magazine which is no longer on the shelves. It is a folding technique that is very simple, yet adds a lot of visual interest and will help us use those stashes of 2-sided designer papers we all have!
Small patterns work best for this technique.

Cut a 7 1/2" x 3 1/2" piece of two-sided designer paper. Make a pencil mark along the right edge of panel 1 1/2 inches from top right corner.
Make another pencil mark along bottom edge of panel 3" from bottom left corner.
Using a pencil, draw a line connecting the marks. Cut off lower right area of panel.
If you save this piece it can be used as a template, saving you from having to measure in the future.
Place panel on scoring board with 7 1/2" edge at top and the cut out at the right. Score at 3", 3 1/2", 5", & 6 1/8".
Accordion fold on the score lines and secure "ruffles" along the top edge with a little glue.
Adhere to card. You will need to trim off about 1/8" on the right side since we are placing this on a mat. If you were putting it directly onto a card, it would fit perfectly.
