On The Ocean Birthday Ship |
M asculine birthday card using Stampin' Up! products.
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Misty Moonlight Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Boho Blue Cardstock
- 1-3/4" x 4" of light blue stripes on white background design from Countryside Inn 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper, cut so the lines are horizontal on the horizontal strip
-3-1/8" x 4-5/8" from Night Of Navy Cardstock
- 3" x 4-1/2" from Basic White Cardstock
- 2-1/2" x 3-1/2" from Pebbled Path Cardstock
- 2-1/4" x 2-1/2" from Basic White Cardstock
- 3" x 3-3/4" from Pebbled Path Cardstock
Adhere the strip of Countryside Inn Designer Paper across the center of the vertical Boho Blue rectangle.
Adhere the Boho Blue rectangle with designer paper attached to the front of the Misty Moonlight card.
Mount the long wave image from the On The Ocean Set on Block H. Ink it up with the Misty Moonlight Ink Pad. Stamp it on the vertical 3" x 4-1/2" white rectangle so the bottom edge of the stamp goes off the bottom edge of the cardstock and the left edge of the stamp goes off the left edge of the cardstock. Re-ink the stamp and stamp it again at a slight angle to fill in the bottom right corner of the cardstock. Clean the stamp using the Stampin' Scrub and Stampin' Mist Stamp Cleaner and/or Simply Shammy, but leave it on the block.
Re-ink the long wave image on Block H with the Boho Blue Ink Pad. Stamp it on the vertical 3" x 4-1/2" white rectangle just above the previously stamped waves on the right side. Let the waves overlap.
Rub a Blending Brush across the open Boho Blue Ink Pad to get it inky. Rub most of the ink off on Grid Paper. Very lightly rub the inky Blending Brush across the top of the wave stamped white rectangle. Get more ink on the Blending Brush as needed. Let the ink overlap the waves and go off the edges. Leave some areas lighter than others as if they were clouds.
Tip: I just clean my Blending Brushes when I'm done using them by running them under water until no more color is coming off. Then, I let them air dry. They may be stained, but they are clean enough to use with any color of ink in the future.
Mount the flying birds image from the On The Ocean Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Misty Moonlight Ink Pad. Stamp it on the right side of the wave stamped and blended white rectangle so the smallest bird is about 1/4" from the right edge and the top of the birds is about 3/8" from the top edge.
Adhere the stamped and blended white rectangle to the center of the Night Of Navy rectangle and then to the front of the card so it is centered.
Pick out the large, solid, sails with mast and rigging die from the On The Ocean Dies. Put it on top of the 2-1/2" x 3-1/2" Pebbled Patch rectangle on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Run through the machine. Use the paper-piercing tool on the Take Your Pick to remove the pieces as needed.
Use Stampin' Seal and Mulitpurpose Liquid Glue or Fine-Tip Glue Pen to adhere the sails with mast and rigging cut out to the front of the card so the top of the mast almost touches the top of the stamped and blended white rectangle and the left sides of the sails overhang the left side of the rectangle a bit as shown.
Rub a different Blending Brush across the open Pebbled Path Ink Pad to get it inky. Rub most of the ink off on Grid Paper. Very, very lightly rub the inky Blending Brush all over the remaining white rectangle. Get more ink on the Blending Brush as needed. Let the ink go off the edges.
Tip: I just clean my Blending Brushes when I'm done using them by running them under water until no more color is coming off. Then, I let them air dry. They may be stained, but they are clean enough to use with any color of ink in the future.
Pick out the large, solid sails die from the On The Ocean Dies. Put it on top of the blended white rectangle on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Run through the machine. Use the paper-piercing tool on the Take Your Pick to remove the pieces as needed.
Use Paper Snips Scissors to cut the sails apart removing any rigging between them.
Mount the "happy birthday" sentiment from the On The Ocean Set on Block G. Ink it up with the Misty Moonlight Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the center sail cut out.
Adhere the cut apart (and stamped) sails to the front of the card so they are over the Pebbled Path sails already on the card and slightly over to the right as shown.
Pick out the large, solid ship with pointy bowsprit die from the On The Ocean Dies. Put it on top of the 3" x 3-3/4" Pebbled Path rectangle on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Run through the machine. Use the paper-piercing tool on the Take Your Pick to remove the pieces as needed. Save the scrap of Pebbled Path cardstock to use again later.
Adhere the ship cut out to the front of the card as shown so the bowsprit overlaps the bottom sail and the left edge of the wave stamped and blended white rectangle a bit.
Mount the ship's wheel image from the On The Ocean Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Pebbled Path Ink Pad. Stamp it on the scrap of Pebbled Path cardstock you saved after cutting out the ship. Leave room to cut it out with the die.
Pick out the matching, open ship's wheel die from the On The Ocean Dies. Put it on top of the stamped ship's wheel on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so it is centered over the image. Run through the machine.
Use a Stampin' Dimensional to adhere the ship's wheel cut out to the front of the card in the lower right corner of the wave stamped rectangle as shown.
Use the mini spatula on the Take Your Pick to carefully peel up one tiny Boho Blue gem from the sheet of Adhesive-Backed Solid Gems making sure that you get the adhesive backing as well. Adhere it to the center of the ship's wheel image on the card front.
