Nature's Prints Dahlia Fold Flower |
S triking card with a fun fold flower using Stampin' Up! products.
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Night Of Navy Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Gray Granite Cardstock
- 8 circles each 1-7/8" cut from one of the mostly blue on one side and gray on the other side patterns from Sun Prints 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper
- 2-1/4" square from Gray Granite Cardstock
- 2" x 3-1/2" from Gray Granite Cardstock
- 1" square from Gray Granite Cardstock
Insert the 4" x 5-1/4" Gray Granite rectangle into the Brick & Mortar 3D Embossing Folder so the brick pattern runs horizontally across the vertical cardstock. Use the line printed on the front flap of the folder to make sure it is lined up straight. Place the folder with the cardstock inside on the platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine and run through the machine.
Pick out the smooth circle die that cuts out a 1-7/8" circle from the Layering Circles Dies. Put it on top of the 2-1/4" Gray Granite square on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Run through the machine. If you haven't already done so, use the circle die to cut out 8 circles from the Sun Prints Designer Paper.
One at a time, follow these steps to create your dahlia fold pieces with each designer paper circle.
1) Determine which side of the paper you want to have showing in the background of each dahlia fold. For this card, we want the blue pattern to show.
2) Fold the circle in half so the background pattern (in this case the blue) is on the inside. Crease thoroughly using the Bone Folder.
3) Unfold the circle.
4) Fold the circle in half again opposite the first fold so the background pattern (in this case the blue) is on the inside. Crease thoroughly using the Bone Folder.
5) Fold the half circle in half to make a rounded top triangle. The non background side (in this case the gray) should be showing. Crease thoroughly using the Bone Folder.
6) Carefully separate the top layer from the others on the rounded edge and fold it back as far as you can.
7) Flip the triangle over.
8) Carefully separate this top layer from the others on the rounded edge and fold it back as far as you can.
9) Unfold the triangle.
10) With the point at the bottom and the background side (in this case the blue) showing, fold the bottom right side towards the center score line like you are making a paper airplane.
11) With the point at the bottom and the background side (in this case the blue) showing, fold the bottom left side towards the center score line like you are making a paper airplane.
Once you've folded them all, you should have 8 dahlia fold pieces.
Fold the Gray Granite circle in half. Crease thoroughly using the Bone Folder. Unfold the circle. Fold the circle in half again opposite the first fold. Crease thoroughly using the Bone Folder. Unfold the circle.
Optional: If you want, use a pencil, pen, or marker to draw over the score lines to make them easier to see.
Place the unfolded Gray Granite circle with score lines on it on the Silicone Craft Sheet.
Tip: Using the Silicone Craft Sheet makes it easier to adhere the dahlia fold pieces in place without worrying about them sticking where you don't want them too.
Put a small dab of adhesive on the back of the pointy bottom of one of the dahlia fold pieces. Adhere it to the Gray Granite circle so the point is at the center of the Gray Granite circle and the center is lined up over the score line. Repeat on the three remaining score lines one at a time with a dahlia fold piece.
Put a small dab of adhesive on the back of the pointy bottom of one of the remaining 4 dahlia fold pieces. Adhere it to the Gray Granite circle so the point is at the center of the Gray Granite circle and it is tucked between two of the dahlia fold pieces already on the circle. Repeat with the three remaining dahlia fold pieces one at time, filling in the circle. Try to get the outside rounded edges as evenly lined up as possible.
Flip the dahlia fold flower upside down. Put adhesive all over the back of the Gray Granite circle and some along the outside edges of the dahlia fold flower as well.
Adhere the dahlia fold flower to the top of the vertical dry embossed Gray Granite rectangle so it is centered side to side. Flip the Gray Granite rectangle upside down and rub thoroughly across the back to make sure all the adhesive sticks firmly.
Adhere the Gray Granite rectangle with dahlia fold flower attached to the front of the Night Of Navy card.
Mount the sentiment of choice from the Nature's Prints Set on Block H. Ink it up with the Night Of Navy Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the 2" x 3-1/2" Gray Granite rectangle.
Pick out the label die from the Natural Prints Dies. Put it on top of the stamped sentiment on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so the sentiment is centered in the die. Run through the machine.
Cut a 4" piece of the 3/8" Denim Ribbon so it has a sharp angle on each end.
Adhere the ribbon horizontally to the center of the back of the sentiment label cut out using Tear & Tape Adhesive. Leave the protective backing in place.
Use Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the sentiment label cut out with ribbon attached to the bottom of the card front so it is centered side to side and overlaps the bottom of the dahlia fold flower just a tiny bit.
Mount the flower image from the Nature's Prints Set on Block C. Ink up the flower at the top of the stem with the Night Of Navy Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the 1" Gray Granite square.
Pick out the small circle die from the Palms Dies. Put it on top of the stamped flower image on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so the image is centered in the die as much as possible. Run through the machine.
Use a small piece of Tear & Tape Adhesive to adhere the flower circle cut out to the center of the dahlia fold flower.
Use the mini spatula on the Take Your Pick to carefully peel up one silver flower from the sheet of Flowers Trinkets making sure you get the adhesive backing as well. Adhere it to the front of the card so it is centered on the flower circle cut out.
Pick out one trinket from the Sprig Trinkets. Use Mini Glue Dots to adhere it to the front of the card as shown so the base of the sprig is tucked into the dahlia fold flower.
