Money Holder Gift Card |
|
H ave you ever wanted to give someone cash instead of a gift card? Maybe its for a birthday, a wedding, or even a trip they may be going on. It's fine to slap a bill inside a regular card, but how special it would be to make a paper wallet to hold the cash, and give that to them instead! It would really make the recipient feel loved! Here is how to make it!
|
This is not a difficult project, but there are a lot of steps, so take it slowly and I'll do my best to make it simple! Start with a piece of the Sweet Soriee DSP or any paper that fits the theme of your card. You will need one piece cut to 9 1/4" x 8". Make sure the pattern you use is oriented to the longer legnth. Also cut a piece 2" x 10.
Using your scoring board, turn the DSP over. You will score on the side that will be the inside of the card. Score the legnth of the long side(9 1/4" side) at 1/4" and 1/2" on both sides. Now turn the paper to the short side (8" side) and score at 2 3/4", 3", 6 3/4, & 7"
This is where it gets a bit tricky. With the scored paper in front of you vertically, you will need to make sure that the top "flap" is slightly larger than the bottom. You will need to trim the top sides along the inside score line(1/2 " in from the edge) on the left & right. Trim only as far as the second horizontal score line.Cut off the 1/2" pieces.
Next cut from the bottom also on the inside scorelines, but only to the first line, and cut off. Now cut horizontally along the second score line to create a little flap that will fold in, trim it so its only a 1/4" as shown in the photo.
Once the paper is scored and cut, you can fold and burnish with your bone folder all the scored lines. They will all fold "in" creating a paper wallet.
I rounded the top larger flaps corners using my Envelope punch board, but you can do this with any punch you may have.
After folding along the score lines, place Tear Tape along the right and left sides of the bottom flap only, then fold the sides of the card in and attach the bottom flap to the sides as shown.
Your money holder should look like this.
Now you can make the slip on fastener band using the 2" x 10" piece. Score at 2 5/8", 3", 6 7/8" , & 7 1/4". Fold and burnish with your bone folder. Decorate this as you like. I put a bit of silver washi tape along the edges. Usually I would put the fastened side to the back, but this time, the flower was placed so well, I fussy cut along it and kept it to the front. I secured it with Mini Stampin demensionals so I had depth. Make sure to place it around the card before determining the right tightness. It should be snug, but easy to remove and replace before you adhere it. Then I fussy cut a couple more flowers from the same DSP and added them with mini demensionals too. then I added a sentiment to complete it.
On the inside I added a little tag that was cut out from a Sweet Soriee Memories and More card, using the tag in the Sweet Cake Framelits set, and made a little bow out of some ribbon. I then stamped Congratulations from the So In Love stamp set.
And there you have it! A great gift for someone you care about! Here are a couple other similar cards I've made using this style. I hope you enjoyed this recipe!
