Little Twinkle Baby Star Rays |
F un baby card that can be for a boy or a girl with a simple switch of some cardstock, ink, and ribbon colors using Stampin' Up! products.
Cut cardstock pieces to the following sizes using a cutting and scoring tool:
- card from So Saffron Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Very Vanilla Cardstock
- 3" x 4-1/4" from Seaside Spray Cardstock
- 2-1/2" x 3-1/4" from either Seaside Spray or Rococo Rose Cardstock
- 2-1/2" x 3-1/4" from So Saffron Cardstock
- 2-1/4" x 3-1/4" from Very Vanilla Cardstock
- 2-1/4" square from Very Vanilla Cardstock
Insert the large Seaside Spray rectangle into the Swirls & Curls Embossing Folder. Use the line drawn on the front flap of the folder to help you line the cardstock up straight. Run the folder with the cardstock inside through your die cutting and embossing tool.
Tip: This embossing folder will cause the cardstock to shrink a bit when dry embossed, so cut your cardstock a little longer than needed. After it adhering it in place, you can trim off the excess on the sides using Paper Snips.
Unlock the 2-1/4" Circle Punch. Slide the So Saffron Cardstock into the punch and punch. Leave the punch unlocked.
As you are ready to stamp using the High Tide Photopolymer Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp. Put some paper (Grid Paper works great) on top of the mat to protect it from ink.
Mount the light ray image from the High Tide Set on Block H. Ink it up with the So Saffron Ink Pad. Stamp it in the middle of the So Saffron circle so the narrow end of the light ray is near the bottom of the circle and the fat end goes off the edge.
Re-ink the stamp and stamp just to the right of the first image leaving a gap between the two rays of about 3/8” where they go off the top edge. Make sure the bottom of the ray is near the bottom of the first ray. Repeat until you have stamped 5 rays onto the circle remembering to re-ink the stamp each time. Clean the stamp, but leave it on the block.
Use Paper Snips to cut along the edges of the rays.
WITHOUT ADHERING, lay the dry embossed Seaside Spray rectangle on the bottom of the large vanilla rectangle. Tuck the cut out ray circle stamped side down behind the Seaside Spray rectangle on the left side.
One at a time, lift a sun ray up a tiny bit and make a mark under it near the center using the pencil. Mark under all 5 rays. Remove the cardstock pieces from the vanilla rectangle.
Re-ink the light ray image on Block H using the So Saffron Ink Pad. Stamp it over the center of each pencil line so the wide ends of the light rays go off the right, top, and left sides of the vanilla rectangle. Remember to re-ink the stamp each time.
Punch out a circle using the 2-1/4” Circle Punch. If you want a baby boy card, use Seaside Spray Cardstock. If you want a baby girl card, use Rococo Rose Cardstock.
Unlock the 2" Circle Punch. Slide the Very Vanilla strip into the punch and punch.
Adhere the cut out sun rays (stamped side down) to the vanilla circle punch out so the bottom of the rays are near the bottom of the vanilla circle. Trim off excess cardstock along the edges using Paper Snips.
Adhere the trimmed vanilla/sun rays circle to the Seaside Spray or Rococo Rose circle.
Adhere the matted sun rays circles to the stamped Very Vanilla rectangle so the cardstock rays on the circle punch outs are lined up as close as possible with stamped rays on the vanilla rectangle.
Adhere the dry embossed Seaside Spray rectangle to the bottom of the vanilla rectangle so it overlaps the bottom of the matted sun rays circles. Trim off excess Seaside Spray Cardstock as needed using Paper Snips.
Cut a 4-3/4" piece of ribbon. Use Seaside Spray 1/2" Scalloped Linen Ribbon for a baby boy card. Use Rococo Rose 1/2" Scalloped Linen Ribbon for a baby girl card.
Lay the ribbon across the card front so it covers the seam between the vanilla and Seaside Spray cardstock. Fold the ends over and secure in place on the back of the Very Vanilla rectangle with strips of Tear & Tape Adhesive.
Remove the protective backings from the Tear & Tape pieces and add SNAIL to the back of the Very Vanilla rectangle. Adhere the vanilla rectangle to the front of the So Saffron card.
Mount the “A star is born” star image from the Little Twinkle Set on Block C. Ink it up and stamp it in the center of the small vanilla square. Use Seaside Spray Ink for a baby boy card and Rococo Rose Ink for a baby girl card.
Cut out the star image by hand using Paper Snips. Leave a small bit of vanilla outlining the star.
Use Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the star cut out to the front of the card so it overlaps the ribbon and the center of the sun rays circles.
Cut a 3-1/2" piece of ribbon. Use Seaside Spray 1/2" Scalloped Linen Ribbon for a baby boy card. Use Rococo Rose 1/2" Scalloped Linen Ribbon for a baby girl card.
Tie a half knot in the center of the ribbon. Trim the ends.
Adhere the ribbon knot to the center of the ribbon just to the left of the star cut out using a Mini Glue Dot.
