Cutting the Step Card Base
Place your left side of the card stock (short side) on the 1" marker of your cutter. Do a vertical cut from 1" on the ruler down to 6 1/2" on the ruler. Flip your card stock over and cut the other side the same 1" down to 6 1/2".
Scoring the Step Card Base
a.) Turn your card base horizontally (long side) and place across the top of your cutter on the 1" mark . Score the outside edge of the card base up to but not through the cut line. Flip the card stock over and score at the 1" mark on the other side of the card.
b.) Score the same as above at the 2" mark on both sides of the card.
c.) Move your card to the 6 1/2 " mark and score across the card.
d.) Now go back and at the 5 1/2" mark, score inside the two cut lines.
Folding the base card
a.) At the 1", 5 1/2" and 6 1/2" score lines, fold all as a mountain fold.
b.) At the 2" score lines, fold a valley fold.
Stamping the Card center
a.) On the 2" x 4 1/4" Whisper White card stock stamp your 1st lighthouse layers in the center left side of the card stock in memento black ink.
b.) Ink the 2nd layer of the lighthouse in cherry cobbler and stamp over the top of the first layer.
Making Masks for Lighthouse and Moon
a.) Stamp your lighthouse layers on some stamping mask paper and fussy cut the lighthouse out.
b.) I you have a 3/4" round circle punch you can use that to cut the moon out of the stamping mask paper. If you do not have that punch you can stamp the moon on the stamping mask paper and cut it out.
c.) Place the lighthouse mask over the lighthouse that you stamped on your whisper white layer. Then place your moon in the right upper corner of the card stock. Be sure to leave an edge around the moon at the top of the card stock.
Inking the Center Section Card Stock w/Lighthouse
a.) Place either a post it note or a straight piece of scrap card stock about a quarter of the way up the lighthouse. This is used to mask off the bottom portion and know where to start your sky area.
b.) Starting with Daffodil Yellow Ink and a sponge, ink your sponge and blot it off on a scrap of paper first then start at the edge of your paper using circular motions and ink the top portion around the lighthouse. You can add as much ink as you'd like but remember it is easier to add, you cannot take away so start off light.
c.) Then take your Pumpkin Pie Ink blot off excess ink and in a circular motion go over the yellow, leaving some yellow between the lighthouse and moon show through. Add ink as you desire.
d.) Take the Rich Razzleberry ink and blot off excess and then in a circular motion ink the outside edges of your card stock and above the mask that separates the sky from the water.
Adding Sandbar/Island and Water
a.) Use the sandbar stamp in High Tide with crumb cake to stamp your sandbar around the lighthouse.
b.) Clean your stamp and them re-ink it with Versa Mark and stamp over the sandbar/island once again.
c.) Put clear embossing powder over the versa mark you stamped and then heat it.
d.) Now you are ready to sponge the Night of Navy ink around the sandbar/island to make the water. Once it is inked, take the wave stamp in the High Tide set and stamp it in Night of Navy ink and stamp it across the water areas. This makes it appear as waves.
Side Whisper White Panel Layers
a.) You will ink the 2 Whisper White panels that fit on the side bars of the card the same way you did the middle section.
b.) Be sure and line the two small panels up at the top with the center panel and put your mask in the same place for the sunset so that when you assemble your card everything lines up.
c.) You will then reverse your mask and cover the sunset and sponge the water in with Night of Navy ink.
Bottom Layer and Panel of Card
a.) Sponge the bottom Whisper White layer with Night of Navy ink. This whole piece is water.
b.) Stamp your waves on the water.
Sentiment
You may put a sentiment on the bottom front of your card and also on the inside if you like.
Card Assembly
Assemble your card by gluing your layers to the base Cherry Cobbler card stock.
