Light The Year Lantern Easel Card |
E asel Christmas card made with Stampin' Up! products.
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Pretty Peacock Cardstock at 4-1/4" x 11" and scored at 5-1/2"
- 4" x 5-1/4" of candles on blue background design from Sentimental Christmas 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper, cut so the candles are vertical on the vertical rectangle
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Basic White Cardstock
- 3-1/2" x 4-1/2" from Basic White Cardstock
- 3-1/2" x 4-1/2" from Basic Black Cardstock
- 2" x 4-1/4" from Real Red Cardstock
- 2 pieces each 1-1/8" x 4" from Old Olive Cardstock
- 1" x 4" from Basic White Cardstock
- 1" x 4" of candles on blue background design from Sentimental Christmas 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper, cut so the candles are vertical on the horizontal strip
Fold the card in half at the score line making a tent fold card.
Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue to adhere the large piece of Sentimental Christmas Designer Paper to the front of the card. Allow to dry for a few minutes.
Use the scoring blade on the Paper Trimmer to score the back of the front card panel in half at the 2-3/4" mark so it will form an easel when folded. Fold along the score line as a mountain fold.
As you are ready to stamp using the Light The Year Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp.
Mount the "wishing you peace, joy, and light" sentiment from the Light The Year Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Pretty Peacock Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the vertical 4" x 5-1/4" white rectangle slightly closer to the top.
Adhere the thin strip of Sentimental Christmas Designer Paper to one of the thin Old Olive strips so just a bit of Old Olive shows along the top and bottom edges.
Adhere the matted designer paper strip to the bottom of the stamped white rectangle so it is about 5/8" from the bottom. The left and right edges are even.
Adhere the stamped white rectangle with matted designer paper attached to the inside of the card.
Mount the "sending love and light this time of year" sentiment from the Light The Year Set on Block H. Ink it up with the Pretty Peacock Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the thin white strip.
Adhere the stamped strip to the remaining thin Old Olive strip so just a bit of Old Olive shows on the top and bottom edges.
Adhere the matted sentiment strip to the bottom of the card front so it is about 3/8" from the bottom. The left and right edges should be even with the left and right edges of the designer paper on the card front.
Mount both lantern images from the Light The Year Set on Block E so they are as far apart as possible. Ink them up with the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad. Stamp them in the center of the remaining white rectangle.
Pick out both of the matching, open, lantern dies from the Light The Year Dies. Put them on top of the stamped lantern images on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so they are centered over the images. Make sure the dies do NOT overlap. Run through the machine. Leave the dies out.
Put both of the open lantern dies on top of the Basic Black rectangle on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Make sure the dies do NOT overlap. Run through the machine.
Put the stamped lantern images on some Grid Paper to protect your work surface because the Stampin' Blends do bleed through.
Use the Lemon Lolly Stampin' Blends to color the insides of the lanterns.
Mount the candle image from the Light The Year Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Pretty Peacock Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the stamped and colored lantern images so the bottom of the candle touches the inside bottom edge of the lanterns. Remember to re-ink the stamp each time.
Adhere the stamped and colored lantern images to the same size black lantern cut outs. This hides the bleed through of the Stampin' Blends on the backs of the lanterns when the card is open and provides a bit more stability to the lanterns as well.
Use Stampin' Seal on the BOTTOM ONLY to adhere the layered large lantern cut out to the front of the card so it is just above the sentiment strip and is about 7/8" from the left side of the card. Make sure NO adhesive goes over the score line or your easel card will not open as an easel.
Use Stampin' Dimensionals on the BOTTOM ONLY to adhere the layered small lantern cut out to the front of the card so it is just above the sentiment strip, overlaps the right edge of the large lantern a bit, and is about 7/8" from the right side of the card. Make sure NO adhesive goes over the score line or your easel card will not open as an easel.
Mount the bow image from the Light The Year Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Cherry Cobbler Ink Pad. Stamp it three times onto the Real Red rectangle. Remember to re-ink the stamp each time and leave room between the images so you can cut them out.
Pick out the matching, open, bow die from the Light The Year Dies. Put it on top of one of the stamped bow images on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so it is centered over the image. Run through the machine. Repeat to cut out all three bows.
Put a Mini Stampin' Dimensional on top of each of the lantern images on the card front so it is centered in the loop at the top of each lantern. Remove the protective backings and adhere two of the bow cut outs to the tops of the lanterns as shown. Make sure NO adhesive goes over the edges of the lantern cut out or your easel card will not open as an easel.
Use Mini Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the remaining bow cut out to the center of the matted designer paper strip on the inside of the card as shown. This helps to hold the easel open in place.
Use the mini spatula on the Take Your Pick to carefully peel up 2 Pretty Peacock gems from a sheet of Petal Pink & Pretty Peacock Foiled Gems making sure that you get the adhesive backings as well. Adhere them to either side of the sentiment strip on the card front as shown.
