Inspiring Iris Sponged Sympathy |
P retty sympathy card using Stampin' Up! products.
Cut cardstock pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Pear Pizzazz Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Pool Party Cardstock
- 3-1/2" x 4-3/4" from Whisper White Cardstock
- 3-1/2" x 4-3/4" from Whisper White Thick Cardstock
- 1" x 2-5/8" from Pear Pizzazz Cardstock
Insert the Pool Party rectangle into the Dainty Diamonds 3D Embossing Folder. Place the folder with the paper inside on your die cutting and embossing tool and run through the machine.
Adhere the dry embossed Pool Party rectangle to the front of the Pear Pizzazz card.
Pick out the stitched rectangle die that cuts out a rectangle that is 2-3/16" x 3-1/2" from the Stitched Rectangles Dies. Put it on top of the Whisper White Thick rectangle on a platform on your cutting and embossing tool. Run through the tool. Keep the frame cut out of the Whisper White Thick Cardstock and save the rectangle cut out of the center for use on some other project.
Tip: You may have to press fairly firmly along the edges of the die to pop the cut out loose.
Place the cut out Whisper White Thick frame on top of the Whisper White rectangle on top of some Grid Paper on your work surface. The Grid Paper is there to protect your work surface. The thick cardstock frame should be evenly lined up on top of the regular white cardstock to use as a mask/stencil. Use small pieces of washi tape to hold the thick cardstock frame in place if you wish.
Rub a quarter piece of Stamping Sponge across the open Pool Party Ink Pad to get it inky. Then, lightly rub it in small circles onto the white cardstock rectangle through the rectangle cut out in the thick cardstock frame. Get more ink on the sponge piece as needed.
Tip: Cut a Stamping Sponge into quarters using scissors. This will give you more pieces of sponge to work with and will give you more control as the pieces are smaller and easier to hold.
Tip: I just clean my sponge pieces when I'm done using them by running them under water until no more color is coming off. Then, I let them air dry. They may be stained, but they are clean enough to use with any color of ink in the future.
Remove the thick cardstock frame mask/stencil and save it for use on another project or recycle it.
As you are ready to stamp using the Inspiring Iris Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp.
Mount the outline two irises image from the Inspiring Iris Set on Block I. Ink it up with the Pear Pizzazz Ink Pad. Stamp it on the left side of the sponged white rectangle so the bottoms of the stems are about 3/8" from the bottom and the left edge of the leaves is about 1/4" from the left edge.
Mount the solid iris flowers image from the Inspiring Iris Set on Block H. Ink it up with the Highland Heather Ink Pad. Stamp it on the sponged white rectangle over the previously stamped flowers portion of the image. If needed, stamp again without re-inking so it is slightly offset from the first stamped solid image to fill in the flowers.
Mount the solid iris leaves and stems image from the Inspiring Iris Set on Block D. Ink it up with the Pear Pizzazz Ink Pad. Stamp it on the sponged white rectangle over the previously stamped leaves and stems portion of the image. If needed, stamp again without re-inking so it is slightly offset from the first stamped solid image to fill in the leaves and stems.
Unlock the Lovely Labels Pick A Punch. Slide one short edge of the Pear Pizzazz strip into the left side of the punch (the side of the punch with the rounder label top) as far as it will go. Punch. Repeat on the other short edge.
Mount the "sending hugs, prayers, and lots of love" or "wishing you the best" sentiment from the Inspiring Iris Set on Block G. Ink it up with the Highland Heather Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the label punch out.
Unlock the Label Me Fancy Punch. Hold it upside down so you can see the punching area. Slide the scrap of cardstock into the punch and get it centered in the small hole punching area. Punch. Leave the punch unlocked.
Lay the small hole punched scrap of cardstock on one end of the Pear Pizzazz sentiment label punch out so the hole is centered over one end. Use the pencil to mark the hole onto the Pear Pizzazz sentiment label punch out. Repeat on the other side.
Hold the unlocked Label Me Fancy Punch upside down so you can see the punching areas. Slide one end of the sentiment label punch out into the punch and get the small hole punching area centered over the mark you made with the pencil. Punch. Repeat on the other side.
Cut a 4-1/4" piece of Pool Party 3/8" Sheer Ribbon.
Thread the sentiment label punch out onto the ribbon and get it centered on the ribbon.
Lay the ribbon with sentiment punch out threaded on it across the sponged and stamped white cardstock rectangle so the bottom of the sentiment label punch out is about 1.4" from the bottom edge. Secure the ribbon in place on the back with strips of Tear & Tape Adhesive.
Remove the protective backings from the Tear & Tape pieces and add SNAIL to the back of the white rectangle. Adhere the rectangle to the front of the card in the center.
Center the sentiment label punch out across the bottom of the sponged rectangle.
Cut an 8" piece of the Pool Party 3/8" Sheer Ribbon.
Slide one end of the ribbon under the ribbon already on the card on the right side of the sentiment label punch out. Tie in place with a small bow. Trim the ends.
