Cut card stock pieces to the following sizes using a Stampin' Trimmer:
- 3" x 5-1/4" from Crumb Cake Card Stock
- 2-1/2" x 4-1/2" from Crumb Cake Card Stock
- 2-1/2" square from Very Vanilla Card Stock
- 1" x 1-1/4" from Very Vanilla Card Stock
- 1" x 2-1/4" from Pumpkin Pie Card Stock
Pick out the hexagon half box framelit from the Window Box Thinlits. Place the larger piece of Crumb Cake Card Stock on top of a Cutting Pad on your Big Shot Platform. Place the hexagon half box framelit on top so you get just over half of the big hexagon and about half of the squares below it. Place another Cutting Pad on top and run it through the Big Shot.
Place the smaller piece of Crumb Cake Card Stock on top of a Cutting Pad on your Big Shot Platform. Place the hexagon half box framelit on top so you get about half of the hexagon and about 1/4" of the squares below it. Place another Cutting Pad on top and run it through the Big Shot.
Fold on all score lines.
Place the large half box piece on your Stampin' Trimmer so the score line between the half hexagon and the flaps below it is on the 1-1/4" mark and the top of the half hexagon is across the cutting line. Cut off the top of the box.
Turn the box piece so the top of the box is flush with the scale bar across the top of the Stampin' Trimmer and the score line between the right flap and center piece is on the 1-1/2" line. Cut off the end of the right flap.
Turn the box piece so the bottom of the box is flush with the scale bar across the top of the Stampin' Trimmer and the score line between what is now the right flap and center piece is on the 1-1/2" line. Cut off the end of what is now the right flap.
Turn the box piece on your Stampin' Trimmer so the score line between the half hexagon and the flaps below it is on the 1-1/4" mark and the bottom flaps are across the cutting line. Cut off the bottom of the box.
Place the smaller half box piece on your Stampin' Trimmer so the score line between the half hexagon and the flaps below it is on the 1-1/4" mark and the top of the half hexagon is across the cutting line. Cut off the top of the box.
Use Paper Snips to trim off the skinny flaps on either side of the smaller box piece. Trim along the score lines.
Here's what the trimmed piece should look like.
Mount the Hardwood background stamp on Block F. Leave the stamp face up on your work surface. Open the Crumb Cake Ink Pad and pounce or rub it across the entire surface of the Hardwood stamp. Leave the inked up stamp face up on your work surface. Carefully place the box pieces on the stamp so the wood grain will be running horizontally across the half hexagons. Place a piece of scratch paper on top of everything and rub. Using the scratch paper protects your hands from getting ink on them. Remove the box pieces.
Tear off a 1" to 1-1/4" piece of Tear & Tape Adhesive. Use Paper Snips to carefully cut the Tear & Tape in half lengthwise. Adhere one half of the Tear & Tape to the skinny connective flap on one of the side flaps and the other to the skinny connective flap on the other side flap. Remove the protective backing and adhere the side flaps to the front of the larger half box.
Put a piece of Tear & Tape Adhesive across the bottom connective flap on the smaller half box piece. Remove the protective backing and adhere the bottom connective flap to the inside of the half box and the side flaps to the sides of the half box. You should now have your trough.
Mount the sentiment of choice from the Hey, Chick Stamp Set on Block G. Ink it up with the Cherry Cobbler Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the Pumpkin Pie strip.
Pick out the small rounded end banner framelit from the Bunch of Banners Framelits. Place the stamped sentiment strip on top of a Cutting Pad on the Magnetic Platform on the Big Shot. Place the small rounded end banner framelit on top so the sentiment is centered side to side. Place another Cutting Pad on top and run it through the Big Shot.
Depending on which way the chicken you are using is facing, adhere the sentiment banner to the bottom of the trough so one side sticks off the edge just a tiny bit and the bottom of the banner is about 1/4" up from the bottom.
Add a small Crushed Curry circle from the Regals Enamel Shapes to the end of the banner sticking over the side of the trough.
Mount one of the fatter chickens of your choice from the Hey, Chick Stamp Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Basic Gray Archival Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the larger Very Vanilla piece.
Squeeze the lid of the Cherry Cobbler Ink Pad to get a pool of ink in the lid. Open the pad but leave the lid exposed. Use a Blender Pen to pick up some ink from the puddle in the lid and color in the the chicken's tail, comb, and wattle and add some squiggles of Cherry Cobbler ink here and there.. Pick up more ink from the pad lid as needed. Remember to stroke the tip of the Blender Pen in one direction only. If you go back and forth, then the card stock could start to pill and tear. Make some areas darker for a shading effect. When you are done coloring with the Cherry Cobbler color, scribble the tip of the Blender Pen back and forth on scratch paper until no more color is coming off.
Repeat the step above using the Pumpkin Pie Ink Pad. Color in the head and wing. Add some scribbles of Pumpkin Pie color here and there. Clean the Blender Pen.
Repeat the step above using the Delightful Dijon Ink Pad. Color in the rest of the chicken and use the Delightful Dijon Ink to blend the other colors together. Clean the Blender Pen.
Cut out the chicken by hand using Paper Snips. Cut the feet off.
Adhere the chicken to the front of the trough using either SNAIL Adhesive or Stampin' Dimensionals. Make sure not to get adhesive on any part of the chicken that will overhang the edges of the trough. Let the chicken overlap the side of the sentiment banner.
If desired, mount the cracked egg image from the Hey, Chick Stamp Set on Block A. Ink it up with the Basic Gray Archival Ink Pad. Stamp it on the small piece of Very Vanilla. Color in the egg using the Blender Pen and ink from the Delightful Dijon Ink Pad lid. Clean the Blender Pen. Cut the egg out by hand using Paper Snips. Cut off the feet. Adhere the egg to the base of the chicken and trough using a small piece of Stampin' Dimensionals.
Fill your cute candy holder with candy and give it to someone to make them smile!
