Gold & Plaid - Classic Christmas |
|
I
bought the Gold foil edged card pack with my holiday catalog pre-order. I tucked the package away when the order came in and forgot about them. I love gold with Christmas plaids so I decided to use these bases with a plaid from the Festive Farmhouse collection. While searching my stash for the card bases, I came across the glimmer paper from the Joyous Noel suite. I grabbed it because I wanted to try to incorporate the I Merry Merlot glimmer paper. It might not be as crimson as Cherry Cobbler, but I think it works! I cut a piece of plaid at 4 x 5 1/4 and adhered this to the card base. Then I layered a 1 x4 piece of the glimmer paper near the bottom of the card. The Christmas tree is from the Winter Woods bundle and I stamped it in Mossy Meadow. To brighten it a bit, I spritzed it with shimmer mist I made using the Vegas Gold shimmer paint. The sentiment is from the November Paper Pumpkin kit. I sponged the edge of the banner with Vegas Gold shimmer paint using a sponge dauber. To me the card still needed something. I love bling so I added the Red rhinestones as ornaments. That was better, but the tree really needed a topper. I sponged one of the stars from the wood elements from the Festive Farmhouse suite. It was the right color, but too small. I added a gold sequin with a glue dot then glued the star in the center of the sequin. I debated about using the star because the sequin by itself is pretty too. Either way, the gold at the top really makes the tree pop!!!
