Gift Card Holder using Paper Blooms DSP |
I used Old Olive, Night of Navy, Basic White, and Petal Pink cardstock to enhance the beautiful Paper Blooms DSP (from the Sale-A-Bration catalog, Jan-Feb 2021) to make this gift card holder. The sentiment is from the Forever Fern set (AC). Easy design and many uses.
Cut the following:
Old Olive piece: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"
Night of Navy piece: 4" x 5 1/4"
Paper Blooms DSP piece: 4 1/4" x 9 3/4"
Basic White: 3" x 4"
Adhere the Old Olive piece to the Night of Navy piece so it's centered with an equal border all the way around (the Night of Navy is your base/back of the card).
Using the "Layering Circles Dies" and your Stampin' & Emboss machine, cut a 1 7/8" circle out of Basic White cardstock, and a 2 1/4" scalloped edged circle out of Night of Navy cardstock.
Stamp your sentiment using Night of Navy ink onto the Basic White circle. I used "to a friend that makes me smile" from the "Forever Fern" cling stamp set.
Adhere the stamped Basic White circle onto the Night of Navy scalloped edged circle, centering it.
Cut out of Petal Pink cardstock a piece 1 3/4" x 4 1/4"
Cut out of Paper Blooms DSP a pice 1 1/2" x 4 1/4" (this piece of Paper Blooms should be either darker or lighter from your other Paper Blooms DSP piece so they contrast; I used a darker pattern for this piece and a lighter pattern for the piece that's 9 3/4" x 4 1/4").
Adhere the Paper Blooms piece onto the Petal Pink piece, leaving a border on the sides of about 1/8" (the top and bottom won't have a border).
Take the 9 3/4" x 4 1/4" piece of Paper Blooms DSP and score the following from the left edge:
3 1/4" score line
6 1/2" score line
Then, using a smaller sized die from the "Layering Circles Dies, cut a half-circle out of the top from the center of the 9 3/4" x 4 1/4" piece of Paper Blooms (this will be centered between your two score lines.) The half-circle shouldn't be more than 1" in diameter--it's fairly small. You can use a circle punch, too, if the die cuts are too awkward.
Fold the Paper Blooms piece on the score lines (3 1/4" and 6 1/2"). This divides the piece of DSP into 3 - 3 1/4" sections.
Take the first section and fold it behind the center section. Adhere (I used thin Tear Tape) the folded back front section to the center section on the right side and bottom, creating a pocket. The pocket will have the half circle cut out at the top.
Take the folded Paper Blooms piece that now has a pocket and adhere it to the Night of Navy/Old Olive base, centered. The pocket flap should open to the left, like a card.
Adhere the Basic White 3" x 4" piece to the third or far right section of the Paper Blooms piece, creating the inside of the card.
You should be able to put a regular-sized gift card into the pocket easily and pull it out easily due to the half circle cut out giving you a place to grab ahold of the card in the pocket.
Adhere the Petal Pink/Paper Blossom strip on the front of the pocket, which is the front of the card, leaving a 1/4" border on the right side.
Using dimentionals, adhere the Basic White/Night of Navy stamped circle sentiment to the lower center of the front of the card.
