Friendly Seagulls Fish Friends |
F un friendship card using Stampin' Up! products.
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Lost Lagoon Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 2" x 5-1/4" from Pool Party Cardstock
- 2" x 5-1/4" of multicolored fish on pale blue background design from Otterly Adorable 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper, cut so the fish are horizontal on the vertical rectangle
- 1" x 5-1/4" from Pool Party Cardstock
- 1-3/4" square from Basic White Cardstock
- 1-3/4" x 3" from Lost Lagoon Cardstock
As you are ready to stamp using the Friendly Seagulls Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp.
Mount the flying birds image from the Friendly Seagulls Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad. Stamp it in the upper left corner of the vertical 2" x 5-1/4" Pool Party rectangle.
Mount the seagull with his beak on the right side image from the Friendly Seagulls Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad. Stamp it on the vertical 2" x 5-1/4" Pool Party rectangle so it is about 1-1/4" from the bottom edge and about 3/8" from the left edge. Leave the stamp on the block.
Put the stamped Pool Party strip on some Grid Paper to protect your work surface because the Stampin' Blends do bleed through.
Use the Dark Calypso Coral Stampin' Blends to color the bird's feet only.
Adhere the stamped and colored Pool Party strip to the left side of the Otterly Adorable Designer Paper strip so it overlaps the left edge of the designer paper by about 1/2". Make sure the top and bottom edges are even.
Adhere the remaining 1" x 5-1/4" Pool Party strip to the right side of the Otterly Adorable Designer Paper strip so it overlaps the right edge of the designer paper by about 1/2". Make sure the top and bottom edges are even. 1" of designer paper should be showing between the two Pool Party strips and the whole rectangle should be 4" wide.
Adhere the layered Pool Party/designer paper strips to the front of the Lost Lagoon card.
Re-ink the seagull with his beak on the right side image on Block C with the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad. Stamp it on the white square. Don't worry if you don't get all of the feet and legs as you will be cutting them off.
Put the stamped square on some Grid Paper to protect your work surface because the Stampin' Blends do bleed through.
Use the Smoky Slate Stampin' Blends to color the feathers on the wing as shown.
Use the Dark Calypso Coral Stampin' Blends to color the bird's beak.
Cut out the colored bird by hand using Paper Snips Scissors. Cut the feet and legs off.
Use Mini Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the bird cut out to the front of the card over the top of the bird stamped on the card.
Mount the "hey, friend" sentiment from the Friendly Seagulls Set on Block B. Ink it up using the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad. Stamp it on the bottom of the horizontal Lost Lagoon rectangle so it is centered side to side.
Pick out the set of two joined fish die from the Otterly Amazing Dies and the slanted end sentiment strip die from the Something Fancy Dies. Put them on top of the Lost Lagoon rectangle on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so the sentiment strip die is centered over the sentiment. Do NOT let the dies overlap. Run through the machine. Use the paper-piercing tool on the Take Your Pick to remove the pieces.
Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue to adhere one fish cut out inside the mouth of the gull as shown.
Use Mini Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the sentiment strip cut out to the front of the card as shown so it is just below the gull's feet and overlaps the center designer paper strip.
Use the mini spatula on the Take Your Pick to carefully peel up 2 small Gray Granite pearls from a sheet of Riverside Irregular Pearls making sure that you get the adhesive backings as well. Adhere them to either end of the sentiment strip cut out as shown.
