Friendly Gnomes Hi Spring Gnome |
C ute spring hello card using Stampin' Up! products.
Cut cardstock and Adhesive Sheets pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Soft Succulent Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Evening Evergreen Cardstock
- 3-3/4" x 5" from Pool Party Cardstock
- 1-1/2" x 2" from Evening Evergreen Cardstock
- 1-3/8" x 1-7/8" from Adhesive Sheets
- 1-3/4" x 2-1/2" from Basic White Cardstock
- 1-1/2" square from Soft Succulent Cardstock
As you are ready to stamp using the Friendly Gnomes Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp.
Mount the squirrel image from the Friendly Gnomes Set on Block A. Ink it up with the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad. Stamp it on the left side of the horizontal Pool Party rectangle so it is about 3/4" from the bottom and left edges.
Mount the plant with flowers image from the Friendly Gnomes Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad. Stamp it at an angle in the upper right corner of the horizontal Pool Party rectangle so the top flowers are about 1/2" from the top and right edges.
Place the stamped Pool Party rectangle on some Grid Paper to protect your work surface. You need to make sure that you protect your work surface with paper as the Stampin' Blends Markers do bleed through.
Use the Light Basic Black Stampin' Blends to darken the highlights on the squirrel's tail and to color in his paws and darken his eyes.
Use the Light and Dark Smoky Slate Stampin' Blends to color in the rest of the squirrel.
Use the Light and Dark Soft Succulent Stampin' Blends to color in the leaves on the plant.
Use the Light and Dark Fresh Freesia Stampin' Blends to color in the flowers on the plant.
Use the Color Lifter Stampin' Blends as needed to remove excess color.
Cut a 6" piece of the Evening Evergreen 3/8" Windowpane Check Ribbon.
Lay the ribbon across the bottom of the stamped and colored Pool Party rectangle so it just covers the squirrel's feet. Fold the ends of the ribbon over and secure the ends of the ribbon in place with strips of Tear & Tape Adhesive.
Remove the protective backings from the Tear & Tape strips and add Stampin' Seal to the back of the Pool Party rectangle as needed. Adhere center of the large Evening Evergreen rectangle and then to the front of the Soft Succulent card.
Peel the protective backing off of the Adhesive Sheets rectangle. Adhere the Adhesive Sheets rectangle to one side of the remaining, small Evening Evergreen rectangle. Be sure to leave the other protective backing in place for now.
Pick out the "h" and "i" dies from the Alphabet A La Mode Dies. Put them on top of the Evening Evergreen rectangle on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so the green side is face up. Make sure the dies do NOT overlap. Run through the machine. Use the paper-piercing tool on the Take Your Pick to remove the pieces.
Carefully remove the protective backing from the back of the "h" cut out. Adhere it to the front of the card so it is just above the ribbon and just covers the right side of the squirrel's tail.
Carefully remove the protective backing from the back of the "i" cut out. Adhere it to the front of the card so it is just above the ribbon and just to the right of the "h" cut out.
Mount the gnome with flowers in his beard image from the Friendly Gnomes Set on Block D. Ink it up with the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the small Basic White rectangle.
Pick out the matching gnome die from the Gnomes Dies. Put it on top of the stamped gnome image on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so it is centered over the image. Run through the machine.
Tip: It is often better to cut images out with dies before spending all the time to color them in. That way if the dies slip during the cutting process, you haven't wasted a lot of time on the coloring.
Place the gnome cut out on some Grid Paper to protect your work surface. You need to make sure that you protect your work surface with paper as the Stampin' Blends Markers do bleed through.
Use the Light and Dark Soft Succulent Stampin' Blends to color in the gnome's shirt sleeves and hat.
Use the Light and Dark Fresh Freesia Stampin' Blends to color in the gnome's apron and the flowers in his beard.
Use the Natural Tones Stampin' Blends to color in the gnome's hands and face. Remember the lower the number of the Marker the darker the tone.
Use the Dark Basic Black Stampin' Blends to color in the soles of the gnome's shoes.
Use the Light and Dark Smoky Slate Stampin' Blends to color the rest of the gnome's shoes.
Use the Light Smoky Slate Stampin' Blends to color over the highlights in the gnome's beard. Leave the rest of the beard white.
Use the Dark Pool Party Stampin' Blends to color the white edge all around the gnome.
Use the Color Lifter Stampin' Blends as needed to remove excess color.
Use Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the colored gnome cut out to the front of the card so his feet touch the top of the ribbon and his left hand just overlaps the right side of the "i" cut out. His hat should cover the bottom of the plant stem as well.
Cut a 4" piece of the Evening Evergreen 3/8" Windowpane Check Ribbon.
Slide one end of the ribbon under the ribbon already on card front on the right side. Tie in place using a half knot. Trim the ends.
Pick out the tuft of grass die from the Gnomes Dies. Put it on top of the Soft Succulent square on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Run through the machine. Use the paper-piercing tool on the Take Your Pick to remove the pieces.
Use a Mini Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the tuft of grass cut out to the front of the card so it overlaps the right side of the gnome cut out a bit and the bottom is covered by the ribbon where the knot of ribbon is located.
Use the mini spatula on the Take Your Pick to carefully peel up 1 large Evening Evergreen opal from the sheet of 2021-2023 In Color Opal Rounds making sure you get the adhesive backing as well. Adhere it to the upper left corner of the card front.
