Cut pieces of cardboard (from the backing of specialty designer series paper packs or Paper Pumpkin kits) to the size you want for your front and back covers, as well as the spine. I wanted my pages to be 4"x6" so I cut my covers slightly larger at 4 1/4" x 6 1/4". The width of your spine will depend on how many pages you want to include and how thick they will be. My spine is 1" wide. Glue these pieces on to the paper you will use for your cover, face down.
Fold over all your edges, burnishing with a bone folder.
Fold the corners over at an angle, lining up the fold marks from the previous step to ensure everything is straight.
Clip the corners at the angle you folded in the previous step.
Glue the short ends down with liquid glue, use a bone folder to make sure the paper is even.
Glue down the long sides, making sure to burnish the paper into the gaps between your covers.
Add a layer of contrasting paper to the inside, again burnishing into the creases between the cardboard.
Your cover is done! Now on to the inside...
Score and fold a strip of cardstock for your binding. The measurements will depend on how many pages you want, how thick your spine is, and how wide your glue strips are. Mine are 1/4" high with 1/8" gap between them for six pages.
Attach your binding to the spine of your album with Tea & Tape or other glue strips.
Attach pages to your binding, front and back of each upright. You can create flip out pages by doubling the length or width of your pages and scoring them in half before adhering them.
