Enjoy The Moment Bacon and Egg |
P layful "out-of-the-box" card perfect for a birthday or retirement using Stampin' Up! products.
Cut cardstock pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Cajun Craze Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from So Saffron Cardstock
- 3-1/4" x 4" from Very Vanilla Cardstock
- 1-1/2" square from Crushed Curry Cardstock
Place the large So Saffron rectangle horizontally on some Grid Paper on your work surface. Pick out the small four-pointed diamonds mask from the Adorning Designs Decorative Masks. Place it over the cardstock.
Tip: If desired, use a piece of washi tape to hold the mask in place.
Rub a Blending Brush across the open So Saffron Ink Pad to get it inky. Lightly rub the inky Blending Brush all over the vanilla rectangle through the mask. Get more ink on the Blending Brush as needed.
Tip: I just clean my Blending Brushes when I'm done using them by running them under water until no more color is coming off. Then, I let them air dry. They may be stained, but they are clean enough to use with any color of ink in the future.
Mount the "enjoy the moment" or "friendship is found in simple things" sentiment from the Enjoy The Moment Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Cajun Craze Ink Pad. Stamp it in the upper right corner of the horizontal, stenciled So Saffron rectangle.
Adhere the stenciled and sentiment stamped So Saffron rectangle to the front of the Cajun Craze card.
Pick out the die that is 2-3/4" x 3-1/2" from the Layering Diorama Dies. Put it on top of the vanilla rectangle on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Run through the machine.
Pick out the smooth circle die from the Layering Circles Dies that cuts out a smooth circle that is 1-1/8" diameter. Put it on top of the Crushed Curry square on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Run through the machine.
Rub a different Blending Brush across the open Crumb Cake Ink Pad to get it inky. Lightly rub the inky Blending Brush around the edges of the vanilla cut out and the edges of the Crushed Curry circle cut out. Get more ink on the Blending Brush as needed. Let the color go off the edges of the cardstock a little.
Tip: I just clean my Blending Brushes when I'm done using them by running them under water until no more color is coming off. Then, I let them air dry. They may be stained, but they are clean enough to use with any color of ink in the future.
Adhere the blended edge Crushed Curry circle cut out to the fatter end of the blended edge vanilla cut out as the yolk of the fried egg.
Unscrew the fine brush tip Water Painter and fill the barrel with water before screwing the tip back in place.
Tip: The Water Painters unscrew in the opposite direction of what you'd expect.
Put some drops of Crumb Cake Ink Refill into a container or on a large clear block or other non-porous surface. Squeeze a couple of drops of water from the Water Painter into the ink. Mix the ink and water together and get the tip of the Water Painter loaded with inky water.
Hold the inky tip of the Water Painter a couple of inches over the fried egg cut out at a slightly above horizontal angle. Tap the brush tip end of the Water Painter sharply with your finger to make drops of inky water splatter onto the fried egg cut out. Move the position of the Water Painter around and get more inky water on the tip as needed until you've got all the splatters you want. Set aside to allow to dry.
Tip: The closer you hold the tip of the Water Painter to the cardstock, the larger the splatters will be.
Tip: Make sure you move everything you don't want to get splatters on out of the way before splattering!
Once the splatters on the fried egg cut out are dry, adhere it to the front of the card as shown. Be sure to leave room for the strips of "bacon."
Cut two pieces each 5" long of the white1/2" Faux Linen Ribbon from the Flowers For Every Season Ribbon Combo Pack.
Place the two pieces of ribbon on some Grid Paper to protect your work surface.
Use the Light Soft Suede Stampin' Blends, Light Cherry Cobbler Stampin' Blends, and Dark Cajun Craze Stampin' Blends to add streaks and blobs of color to the ribbon pieces to make them look like bacon. Leave a few areas white or lighter than others. Blend the colors together as best you can.
Trim the ends of the colored ribbon pieces to get rid of pulled threads so that each piece is about 4-1/2" long.
Put a 3" strip of Tear & Tape Adhesive on the front of the card so it runs at an angle across the bottom of the fried egg cut out as shown. Remove the protective backing and adhere one of the colored ribbon "bacon" strips to the adhesive. Make the ribbon bunch a little every so often to more resemble bacon.
Put another 3" strip of Tear & Tape Adhesive on the front of the card so it runs at a crossing angle across the bottom of the fried egg cut out and over the other "bacon" strip as shown. Remove the protective backing and adhere the remaining colored ribbon "bacon" strip to the adhesive. Make the ribbon bunch a little every so often to more resemble bacon.
