A Touch of Ink Faux Silk |
|
T his is the faux silk technique I used to make this card.
These are the items you need to create this card. Measurements are in inches.
Touch of Ink stamp set, Bermuda Bay cardstock 5½ x 8 ½ scored at 4 ¼, and another 4 x 3 ¾ .
Very Vanilla cardstock 5 ¼ x 4 and a second piece 3 ¾ x 3 ½ , and a scrap piece for the sentiment.
Tissue paper used for gift wrapping.
Granny Apple Green ink pad, Bermuda Bay ink pad, Mango Melody ink pad, Rococo Rose ink pad.
A sentiment and a die to cut it out
Braided Linen Trim
Fold the Bermuda Bay cardstock in half creating your cardbase.
Open the 3-D Painted Texture Embossing folder and tap the Soft Seafoam ink pad on the inside of the front side of the folder.
Place the large Very Vanilla cardstock on the opposite side of the folder, close the inked side down and run it through the Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine.
Adhere embossed cardstock to the cardbase.
Remember, the stamp will look backward until you stamp it on the Very Vanilla cardstock.
Using sponge dauber add Granny Apple Green to the tips of the wings, the tail, and just below the beak, dab ink along the underside of the belly.
Next, using a dauber, add Bermuda Bay to the rest of the areas, and it will blend along the lines, which is what you want.
Now stamp it once onto Very Vanilla cardstock to fussy cut later.
Using the Memento black ink stamp the detailed image of the humming bird over the colored one. Realize it's not going to line up exactly.
I fussy cut mine out so that's why you don't see color outside the lines.
Set this aside if you are going to fussy cut it out.
Mount the 2-step flowers onto the clear block and ink it up with Rococo Rose. Use a wet-one or disinfecting wipe to remove the Rococo Rose ink from the middle of the flowers. Using a sponge dauber, dab Mango Melody in the flowers' center and stamp it once on the very vanilla cardstock. Leave room for the stem on the detailed stamp.
Using the Memento black ink stamp, the flowers' detailed image with the stem over the colored one. Again, it's not going to line up exactly.
I fussy cut mine out, so that's why you don't see color outside the lines.
Mount the 2-stamp leaves on the clear block and, using the Granny Apple Green ink pad, stamp it once, and in the same manner, stamp the smaller leaf three times on Very Vanilla cardstock.
Using the memento black ink stamp the detailed leaves over the top. Do the same thing with the three smaller leaves.
Fussy cut everything out.
Place the images on the 3 ¾ x 3 ½ piece of cardstock to get an idea of where you want to place them down when you glue them.
Glue down the flowers, line the leaves up under the flowers, and glue those down also.
Add the three leaves in as a filler if you want. This step is optional.
Next, glue down the hummingbird where you want him. You can see that mine has his beak in the center of the flower.
Crumple the tissue paper into a small ball, then spread it out.
Spread glue over the entire front of the cardstock. If using the liquid glue, you can use the Stampin sponge to spread it around.
Carefully place the crumpled tissue paper on top of the cardstock. Spread it out, being careful not to iron out all of the wrinkles.
Cut or tuck under the edges of the tissue paper around the card.
Adhere the image to the Bermuda Bay cardstock with dimensionals.
Tie a triple bow onto the card.
Stamp and cut out the sentiment and add it to the front of the card.
I used the small stamp in the set and stamped off Rococo Rose to create the background for my tag before I stamped my sentiment.
